Ausdigital has released a new version of the independence compiler for PS2. This is a nice tool that will help you in putting the independance exploit for the PS2 onto the memory card.

There are not very many new features, but hey.. its perfect.

I'd sincerely like to thank dmcbudman, carlos, and malcdogg for helping me develop the compiler which now boasts this feature list:

-Checks for updates automatically
-Tabbed Interface, for ease of use
-Added alot more documentation
-Will export title.db standalone
-Will export files like 2.2 used to (without changing it to iso or xps)
-Ouputs in .BIN, and XPS for savebuilder.
-Allows you to add your own files in.
-No Elf files included.
-Added Bootable CD Feature (where instead of booting the exploit installer, it boots the loader so you can use the apps
on the cd without installing them. If you need to install them run the EXPINST.ELF file included on the disc!
-Allows selection of network support or not.
-Outputs IPCONFIG.DAT AND CONFIG.DAT (for execftp)
-Now selects correct screen mode depending on region in system.cnf
-Supports multiple title id codes.

Hello... I'm a real noob in the console world... I would like to ask what the exploit above does... And maybe a little offtopic... Is there a way to run PS2 games' backups, without having to mod your console...?

Thanks in advance...

by using the exploit you're able to execute a file on your memory card without having to modify your ps2.

how is it done? you put some special files on your memory card (there are many methods of doing this, look here (http://www.ps2hd.com/forums/faq.php?faq=noobfaq) for a good tutorial) and then you need an original psx game to trigger the exploit. obviously you also need a network adapter and a hard disk.
oh, the most important thing: the exploit only works on old (=fat) ps2 models, not on pstwo (=slim).

Thanks for the reply...
I guess I'll have to mod my new PS2 console anyway... :)
