View Full Version : Upcoming Wii game No More Heroes originally for Xbox 360
It has been revealed that No More Heroes was firstly planned as an Xbox 360 title, however after a tip-off it was suggested that the game was moved onto the Wii due to information on how the controller would work. The founder remarks after seeing and understanding how it all works, it was a good choice to go over to the Wii and the controller works well with the game.
“Originally, I’d wanted to make this game for Xbox 360, actually. [Marvelous Interactive boss] Wada-san had information about the new Wii and how the new controller would work before it came out, so that’s why he thought I should produce the game on that format.
“At the time, I didn’t really understand why, but after seeing and understanding how it works, I think it was a good choice and the controller works really well with the game.”

ive played the game. and the control scheme i experienced in NO WAY should make it irresistable for them to move to the wii. not to mention DROP the game for the 360 as well.
hes talking out of his butt.

It is a shame it isn't available for both, cause the game is all kinds of fun and more people should have the opportunity to play it.

a dual release might have worked, but i think it coming out on wii probably gave it alot more attention than if it would have been exclusive to the 360. the 360 has alot of M rated games the wii only has a few, which gave no more heroes more attention.

It's a cool game but I'm not hooked on it or anything. The graphics are horrible even by Wii standards. The Wii controls are only used for the finishing moves and when you want to make a sharp turn on the bike. They should have went multi with this one. PS3 could have used the motion control for the same things.

Though I wonder when did they start their development.. if it was before the Wii launched then that's harder to use as a reason. If it was 6+ months after, that makes a lot of sense.
I wish the game didn't have slowdown, and on the 360 it wouldn't, but I also think the slowdown is not due to the Wii, unless the post processing/effects/look they do are really costing that much to the gpu, but I still doubt it.
I wonder how long it took them to do the game.

I think they made the right choice, No More Heroes is one of the stronger Wii games out recently, but on the 360 I think it would have likely been lost in the shuffle and been seen as average.

Actually, looking through the files of the game, it would suggest that it may have been a gamecube title. Then again, a lot of wii games share similar things to gc games, but usually not like this.
360? Suda? No way.
Killer 7 was never planned for xbox, thus NMH was never planned for 360.

The PS3's controller is made for 2 hands, thus sword like slashing moves would
not work (ie: slash right/left/up/down). Also, there are much more motion controls
than merely finishing moves. Angling the controller to determine high or low
attack really feels intuitive and cool. The shaking of the controller to recharge
the battery is neat as it adds a sense of urgency and leaves you vulnerable at
the same time. Heck, the circling break-moves adds a lot of intensity. I don't
know about you, but this game makes my arms a bit tired, but I really find it a
joy that couldn't be done with the PS3 controller. The one-handed approach is
key to this game.

There's no shuffle right now. Nothing notable has come out on the 360 since November, and just now we're getting Turok and Devil May Cry 4. Then there's another dry spot until late March/April.
Edit: I forgot Burnout. Shame on me.

This game certainly looks like a Gamecube port in many ways. It's possible they rushed porting the engine (or just didn't :-) ), and added the controls.

Ehh I guess your right as far as the crowd that rushes to the store on release day, but even on the Wii it hasnt had the hype to be that kind of title, it will sell well but its going to be by word of mouth not by reputation, ask the average wii owner what Suda51 is and they will say its probably an obscure rock band.
It wasnt ment as a slam against the Wii, I bought it this week but graphics wise at least its more forgiveable on the Wii, it plays great and is quite stylish but graphically its weak even compared to other Wii games.

The game was switched to the wii because they figured this game didnt have a snowballs chance in hell of getting attention on AAA filled 360. This game wouldnt start to reach significant sales until it reached the 3.99$ bargain bin at Gamestop.
Put motion controls on top of this turd and hype it as worthy of our attention, when every Nintendo gamer knows Brawl is the real deal, and you have No More Heroes.
Keep your crap on the PC!
Reading the reviews talk about framerate and pop-in issues, it seems they made the wrong choice.

Pop-in occurs when traveling outside between fighting missions. Any frame rate issues I've seen have been stylistic 'freezes' and not due to too much going on on-screen.
The game is fun as hell. I've got the 360, a PS3 and a Wii, and No More Heroes is one of the best games to come out this generation due to how stylish, irreverent and downright enjoyable it is. The motion controls add a LOT to the title in how it plays.
Sounds like you haven't played it at all.
