PSP not reading umd games

anybody know how to fix this problem or know how to clean the lens? It seem to play UMD movies okay.

EDIT: okay it seems to take like 5mins to start up the UMD Game. i know its not the umd disc cuz it seem to work fine on this other psp my friend have.

that happened to my psp after a month when i took it to the beach...the heat/humidity did something to the laser or something...good thing i bought it at target i just took it back and got another one...good luck

hey dude, my psp is starting to act the same way. taking a long time to read the umd and load... and i know its not me just being used to loading from memstick haha. anyway, im gonna try cleaning the laser and see if that helps

I'm curious as to your game playing habits. Do you only play with game umd's and for how many hours at a time?

Sony is not known for making long-lasting readers. psx, ps2 all have seen these problems with not being able to read media, cd and dvd games over time.

well i only got one umd game; twisted metal. Total play time was less then 5 hours. the only umd movie i got is spiderman 2 which seems to boot up normal and no long loading time.

I to only have 1 game, ATV and probably have a total of 10 hours on the game.
Sony needs to start using higher quality disk drives because my ps2 laser **** out maybe 10 months after i bought it. Just glad this has a mem stick :)

you say they dont last long my duke ps2 has had the same laser for over 4/5 years dont remember when it came out reads disks like the day i brought it
