What was thought to be an Xbox 360 exclusive game title known as Halo Wars, is heading to the PC with cross platform supporting according to yet another MS insider. This will allow Live gamers and Games for Windows players to play online together.

Finally, after enough assurances that this is not a cruel hoax, we can let you, our dear readers, know that Halo Wars, touted as an Xbox 360 exclusive, is also apparently in development for the PC. But that’s not all - apparently the game will also feature cross-platform play, a la UNO and Shadowrun, between gamers on the Microsoft console and their PC counterparts.

Of course, most of this was to be expected, considering that almost every Microsoft game on the console has inexorably made it to the PC as well, albeit a couple of months or years later. And while we haven’t been told whether the game will be made available for both the Xbox 360 and the PC simultaneously, it stands to reason that it must be the case if the cross-platform rumor is indeed true. And especially considering the fact that Ensemble Studios has boundless expertise developing RTSes for the PC, it makes even more sense that the game would end up on the PC as well, since it would be a waste to squander all their talents as a PC developer on a console-exclusive strategy title.

OH thank you! I dont care how tolerable the controller-RTS scheme can be, PC pwnz for the control scheme on an RTS.
And using a Halo game to promote cross-platform LIVE play is a great way to get it done, since most people will eat up anything halo, and thats a good thing for M$. Dont get me wrong i loves me some Halo.

I think this is cool, im not much of a Halo fan but love RTS games. The cross platform gaming is a great option as well.

a heavily adapted controller scheme is not made perfect by keyboard/mouse emulation. I already have a computer and an internet connection so i wont have to buy a $90+ adapter, or anything at all, to play this game. But dont get me wrong i love my 360s

Is anyone actually surprised by this? On another note, pc gamers will always pwn consoles gamers unless it's a racing game or a slow paced game.

More opponents? Easier wins for pc gamers? Plus, pc games always have hacks :P

So, when should we expect Mass Effect and Halo 3 to be on PC?

in a year or two. No game on xbox is ever exclusive. Its always timed exclusive.
