Fox guest admits she mispoke on Mass Effect

The author Lawrence Cooper who appeared on Fox News to slam Mass Effect for the sexual content of the game has recognized that she misspoke on the subject. She watched someone actually play the game for 2.5 hours and said "I really regret saying that, and now that I’ve seen the game and seen the sex scenes it’s kind of a joke." Apparently someone had told her prior to going on Fox News that "it’s like pornography". However she admitted that it’s not like pornography and that shes seen episodes of ‘Lost’ that are more sexually explicit.

In an interview on Friday, Ms. Lawrence said that since the controversy over her remarks erupted she had watched someone play the game for about two and a half hours. “I recognize that I misspoke,” she said. “I really regret saying that, and now that I’ve seen the game and seen the sex scenes it’s kind of a joke.

“Before the show I had asked somebody about what they had heard, and they had said it’s like pornography,” she added. “But it’s not like pornography. I’ve seen episodes of ‘Lost’ that are more sexually explicit.”

Electronic Arts, the giant publisher that owns Mass Effect, has asked Fox News for a correction. A Fox News spokesman would say only that Electronic Arts had been offered a chance to appear on the channel. An Electronic Arts spokesman said the company had not yet decided whether to accept the offer.

By telephone from Edmonton, Alberta, Ray Muzyka, the medical doctor who is chief executive of BioWare, the Electronic Arts studio that made Mass Effect, said: “We’re hurt. We believe in video games as an art form, and on behalf of the 120 people who poured their blood and tears into this game over three years, we’re just really hurt that someone would misrepresent the game without even playing it. All we can hope for is that people who actually play our games will see the truth.”

I don't watch X-Play much but I just saw part of an episode and they commented on the whole Fox news thing and Adam Sessler did a mini-review on her book. He said something like " I haven't read your book but it sucks! I fear that it will have a negative impact on impressionable young women everywhere and will turn them into a simpleton like you have proven to be." I thought it was really funny.

US television network ABC may have to pay a fine of $1.4m (£707,000) for airing an episode of NYPD Blue which depicted female nudity.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) said the 2003 show had "multiple, close-up views" of a woman's buttocks before the US watershed.

wow @ her amazon scores. and this women even dares to go up on fox and speak on something? shes probably the biggest failure i have ever seen at everything she does, her radio show has horrible reviews, her books are laughed at i think its the first time i see an author who's books are all rated 1 star at amazon, and now this. she has the mental equivalence of someone working part time at mc. donalds she needs to get fired from her job and replaced by someone who can actually debate something using her own ideas.
