View Full Version : Homebrew n00b - So many questions! :)
My first post :) I have so many questions. I just got a JAP 1.5 PSP with a 1GB memory stick duo, and I'd like to run homebrew applications.
I've read this maxconsole tutorial: Ultimate Homebrew Guide/HOWTO (http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=content&itemid=156)
Questions:
Is the Sei PSP Tool still the best thing to use, to run the latest homebrew appz on 1.5 firmware?
The homebrew programs I wish to run are '1 mhz reader', 'UMD Emulator V0.8', and 'Devhook 0.22'. Is there anything else I will need to run these programs?
Which SNES emulator is worth getting? Any other good emulators? I'm not really interested in NES or SMS, but if Genesis or anything similar is working that would be awesome.
Finally: Any other cool homebrew programs you'd recommend?
Thanks Guys - I'd appreciate any advice I can get ;)
hmm...no replies, I guess I'll try to help you
If you have 1.5 firmware use KX Exploit http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/kx-exploit.shtml You can download it there, I assume the read-me files will help you because the program is in spanish.
KX Exploit is used for 1.5 firmware because if you download an app/game with only one folder and one eboot, it will not run on your 1.5 So you must take the single eboot and run it through KX Exploit and poof, now you have 2 eboots and two folders, one with a percentage sign one without.
I only you Sei PSP Tool to hide my corrupt files, after you get some apps and games on your psp you will know what I mean by corrupt files.
I only have a 128mb stick so right now I only keep FileAssistant, a SNES emu, and the latest version of PSPSet. I know 3 progs seems like a small amount, but when I had a larger stick I kept about 20 apps and homebrew games I never played. My opinion: most homebrew games aren't worth your time unless they are the timeless classics like snake, chess, etc. The SNES emu is really nice, lets you re-live your childhood fun.
I use this emu: http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/unofficialsnes9xpsp.shtml alot of people choose: http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/snespsp_tyl.shtml
I like the first one the best because it never freezes on me and its the only emu that runs Mario RPG (7 stars), every single other emu I tried freezes on that game all the time.
If you or any other noob have questions getting emulators and homebrew working email me at poopiehead19@hotmail.com (Yes thats my real email address)
Thanks for the reply Troy! I'd just about given up on this thread ;) In the last few days I've done a lot more reading and now have everything up & running. Appreciate the info on hiding corrupt files - thanks again.
