Downgrading/Upgrading Help

Forgive me if i'm being stupid - or if this kind of thing has already been asked (i couldn't see it if it has!)

I need help setting up my PSP to play ISO files.

I'm running Firmware version 3.51.

I can't downgrade to 1.50 because it says it doesn't need to because i have a more recent version.

I can't install custom firmware as it says it is corrupted or it says "Game could not be started" and gives me an 8 digit error code.

And i get the same thing for trying to upgrade it as well!

I tried using Dark_Alex's package - but it just doesn't work! (Correction - i just can't get it to work - it probs does work!!)

Am i trying to do the right things? Or am i miles off the mark? I don't want to have to do anything like the Pandora thing if i can help it (seems like too much DIY/modding involved!)

Help please? I appreciate everyone is busy but a step-by-step would be brill if poss!!??

cant think where i got it but it worked for me at the start !

I am running 3.71 official firmware and i have tried to get custom firmware like m33 or something like that but every time i try to down load the custom firmware it says you have to have previous custom firmware. So how do i get it.:mad:
