The NeoFlash team say that a free MK2 device for all DS developers will be available very soon and also they have displayed the final packaging shots of the MK2/MK3 adapters they manufacture.

The basic policy of NEO Team is 100% support homebrew forever, now you can ask a free MK2 if you are a NDS developer, and you can apply the free MK2 from http://www.playeradvance.org , they are NEO team official cooperate site in france and will send out the free MK2 to the coders from france directly . You can apply it from more famous NDS develop site later, and all free MK2 will ship out at the end of Aug. :)
And MK3 will start for sell at the same time.

I think they have made a small mistake in the text as they say all the free MK2's will ship out at the end of August, but we are in September now :).

Incase you are unfamiliar with the MK series here is the product description -

The MagicKey 2 (MK2) by NeoFlash Team is a development and backup tool for Nintendo DS (and GBA/SP). Instead of relying on cartridges like the Neo Flash 512, it uses the memory from an SD or MMC card (not included) that you plug in through the MK2 adapter.

Sooo.... no need to have the gba slot in use to run backups with this device?

No, you still need a/any flashcard that can run DS stuff in there as far as I know - to load the serial driver and launch the menu in the MK2/3 flash (16M)

why oh why quote divineo ppl? they get stuff wrong all the time!

where the heck would you put a Magic Key in a GBA/SP!!!

And still no word on it's ROM support, GST, Clean, patched Clean? I'm amazed someone would release a product and take orders while not telling people what it really can do.

Who cares ? This news is for coders, not "others", and coders don't need to know about GST, cleans, ....

From the few details I know, this will make DS linux possible, as well as Save management for EEPROM (DS cart saves), but beyond that I have no clue what they intend to do with the MM slot, whether it will be for things like saves, or mp3's or roms (homebrew or not) is tough to say from their descriptions.

I will be getting one as a developer (http://nds.cmamod.com) so if someone else doesnt get to it first I will share what I find out.
