I just wanted to know if I modded a Wii, would it decrease it's life ? The reason I ask is because when it loads a backup game, it reads the disc and makes alot more noise then when normally.

Mine also did this, however i dont belive it is modchip related, rather a dismantling problem due to removing the caseing. Mine also stopped working after awhile... wouldnt even read normal games... Turns out a cold solder joint let go due to the vibrations... So i resoldered everything up... retourqued all the screws down.. drive still makes noise.. but works again.. load times everything else is normal operation.Still scratching my head on this one...

The trick is, when you reassemble the wii, not to put in the DVD drive too tight. It needs to hang loose. Just put in the screws enough to hold it, you'll notice that the sound is no longer there.
As for lifetime on mechanical parts, it shouldn't cause anymore wear 'n tear then on normal legal games. The drive does not have to make more read operations or work any harder in any way.
