Newbie D2CKEY/System software question...

I just got my modded PAL wii in, with the D2CKEY inside... a note on the box said NOT to update the system software but when I go in the wii shopping channel It tells me there is a new version and need to update the system software...

Can I do this without bricking or undoing the workings of the chip? Or do I need to update the system's software in some other way?

never update your system with a system firmware not your region is prolly what it says. updates thru the internet e.g. are fine.

No it actually said no updates whatsoever, but i guess they were just trying to be safe... making sure people wouldn't f it up...

Hmm actually... the nintendo updater also warns me that any hardware modifications might cause the system to brick when performing the update?

Is that supposed to scare me or an actuall possibility?

Scare you and also cover their asses if something goes wrong, don't worry about it it only blocks some of the software gamecube stuff like freeloader.
