Hey guys,
I just found out that a friend from college didn't get **** for Christmas. He has a wii with the new firmware from nintendo and virtual console games. I was wondering, if I wanted to chip his wii like mine (wiikey v.1.9g), would there be any conflicts with the new wii firmware already implemented on his wii. If so, is it possible that there is a wii firmware downgrader method of any sorts?
Thanks,
Omega

No, and no. Firmware doesn't affect chips and there is no downgrader.

no, i disagree with this.
i have moded a few of Wii's for my workmates, most of them are having a JP version with older than 3.0J version, these JP version works fine after moded with wiikey and updated to 1.9G + 3.1J. But one of my mate bring a US version w/3.1U firmware (which he updated it to the most update version, like Super Mario Galaxy) and wish me to mod for him, so i solder a wiikey on it which is using a DMS main chips, but after the solder, the console was not reading any discs, and i resolder the wiikey and do it again, same result.
And then i let the wiikey stick with the DMS chip ROM, and install them to a JP version base, the ROM work fine with JP base, so i put the original JP ROM (D2B)to the US base, the same result like US ROM + US Base comes out, i am sure that is not the wiikey problem or my solder skill problem.
so, my conclusion is..
<3.1J / 3.1U = modable
>3.1J / 3.1U = non-modable

I've modded 3.1 wii's before from the us and it works just fine. It's your soldering.
