Crazy Wii Thing

Ok i have a wii modded with the wiikey, modded it last year when the wii key came out. Everything has been working great. I played the heck out of it last year and when smg came out i updated it and played that for awhile. Well i got a xbox 360 and havent played the wii since smg came out (played smg for a day when it came out thats it). Well i decided to get it out yesterday and was bombarded with messages about updates. Well i deleted all the messages, and for some reason i cannot get into my system settings, i can delete stuff from the memory but when i try to click on system settings, it gives me a screen that talks about not being able to find a website (opera page). Also i was sent another message talking about the update i click in that and it brings me to the same cant find page opera page. I deleted the internet channel. Reflashed the latest smg update from wii key and i still have the problem. I can access everybody votes, internet channel, and play all backups, receive messages etc. But i cant get into my settings plz help im stumped!

you could try the "maintenance mode". when you turn your system on press and hold the "+" and "-" keys, and then press "A". It might be worth a try.

You updated your wii with another region's update. You will need to update it with the proper region update.

I tried the maintence mode it didnt work. As far as updating with the wrong region are you talking about the mod chip update because im pretty sure i did the correct region. Ive never read of anything like this happening (have you guys?) please i need help

so i read up a little bit and it sounds like i have a semi bricked wii. They say it is from playing cames that are the wrong region code. Well i live in the us so i have a ntsc wii right? Also they said something about putting in a brand new ntsc wii game and it should update it. Is this true. The last game played on the newest game played on the wii was super mario galaxy. so in theory i should be able to go down to the store and pick up trauma center new blood, or need for speed pro street, pop it in it will update. And then i should be fine right? Also i read some stuff about wii brick blocker. Can you guys please explain this to me i need help!

its not because you played a different regions games it is because you updated the firmware for the wii from a different region.basicly means you accepted a pal update on an ntsc console.

you need to get an ntsc game that has an higher firmware to upadate your ntsc console.then the semi brick will go away.i did the same by updating my console with smg ntsc on my pal console.luckily cos it came out on pal after ntsc it had an higher fimware so i got my update off the pal release of smg and i could get into the wii settings fine.

anybody have an idead on a game i could try since i think i probably did it with smg? Somebody said Link’s Crossbow Training worked for them but do you think that whould have the same update on it as the smg or it doesnt matter.

Try galaxy from the us and if that doesn't work you will need to wait a month or two until a new game comes out with a newer update.

so today i tried galaxy from the us and it did not perform any update or anything, played fine. Settings still not working. Was wondering if one of you guys could post up a game that has the newest update when it comes out if it isnt to much trouble. I would really appreciate that!

You're going to have to wait then. Maybe brawl will have a newer update, or you may have to wait longer. There's nothing you can do but keep trying newer games.

You have to wait. Most likely smbb will prob not have the 3.2 update, so you'll have to wait another month or so until a newer update comes out on a game.

Ok i finally rented super mario smash bros brawl ,and put it in my wii to see if it has the update, and it doesnt play at all. It says unable to read disc. I put in any of my other games and they read just fine. Is everyone having this problem and is there a update.

Buy the original, then use the backup to update the Wii. The other option is to wait for Wiikey 1.9x (or whatever they call it) update to come out. Wiikey not playing brawl is a known issue. The reason "I believe" is because brawl is the first DL game ever on the Wii.

smsb has an issue with wiikey (Your right it's because it's dual-layer) - so it won't play - hence the reason you can't update - however an update came out today for the wiikey to address this problem - so download the update, burn it, update your wiikey, run smsb and its upadte, which should contain the latest firmware - and hopefully it will sort out your semibrick

i see that the update stops updates via disc. So will i still be able to update my wii via smash bros

never mind i answered my own question. So does it not let updates from other regions or what?
