Not really. I used the universal alternate points with only 4 IC soldering. That wasn't too difficult either. It's just that getting to the right IC was the problem because it's so small. But using a magnifying glass and a very thin tipped marker pen, I was able to color in either odd or even number of legs. Also using a very fine pointed tweezer to place it in the right IC to guide the wire right in it made it very easy, well sort of easy, and avoided any bridging.

The 4 wire soldering on the IC legs are necessary since it doesn't have any alternate via points.

I had a friend mess up his d2b pads and when going to the IC leg I couldn't tell if I bridged or not so I decided to get it done professionally. I didnt really have any good tools. I saw a pic of some guy soldering 20+ wires and most were to the IC, i think it was a flex board or something. I thought thats what he meant.
