Hi there just bought my daughter a Wii(Pal) for xmas with wii key fitted.
Have quite a few Pal back up games already to use most of them work fine but one game asks for update once installed.
I didn't go through with it as i was a little concerned that i could brick it.
Could it be that my wii hasn't been updated to the latest firmware and that the game has an update in it?
Is there anyway of checking what wiikey firmware i am running as i hear that 1.9g is the latest i think?
Sorry for all the questions but i am new to this.
Thanks

Thanks for you help people just wondering, if my wii key has already got some kind of earlier firmware installed on it will it update straight to 1.9g.
How stable is 1.9g have seen a file called 1.9g beta somewhere available is this the latest one to grab.
Also is there anyway of double checking if all my games are definately pal(sofware etc) as the title's couldd have been renamed to Pal you never know!
Am i right in saying if i update my pal wii to 3.1e and then put in an ntsc game it will be ok as i have the latest firmware.
But i take it this will change in time when the bring out newer firmwares?

Use this to check what region iso you have - http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=90892
1.9g is that latest update that you want to install and yes it does say beta.
If you have the pal wii and you update with a pal disk you will be fine. The safest way to upgrade is via the wifi in wii settings. After you have updated you can play ntsc games (as long as you have enabled region free with the wiikey 1.3 setup disk).

Have a wii(pal) version now updated to 3.1e firmware via internet.
Am looking to play only pal wii games just to be on the safe side.
Want to play SMG pal version but have heard that i will need to update wiikey to 1.9g.
Have read about many problems with updating wiikey to latest version and using it with SMG.
Please could someone point me in the right direction on what to do step by step to get it to work with no hiccups.
I have already got the 1.9g iso pal file(1.4gb).
Many thanks

run the iso and yer done.. if you can't get it to boot, run a gcos disc first. if you get the "check your connections" error something else is wrong.

I got all my files from here http://www.consolehardware.com/downloads.html
pal version !!
updating your wiikey is very easy just insert the disc and use the reset button to navigate menu. for enter hold the reset button or use a gamecube joystick.
after that you will need the setupdisck 1.3 to configurate your wiikey.
