I know, I know. We've all read countless SMG/Wiikey problem threads. I too have a Wiikey (1.9g) and latest Wii firmware. I wonder if this is the same issue or bad media? (This is the first game I've burned on these new/reflective surface Verbatim's.)
Burned at 8x on Verbatim DVD-R DataLife Plus "Shiny"
Was playing SMG for about an hour this morning and then all of a sudden, I got an error on the screen about how the Wii couldn't read the disc. I ejected it and popped it right back in. The game played for about 5 seconds, same error. I ejected the disc, checked for fingerprints/smudges and seeing none, put it back in. The game started working perfectly again and my daughter got another 30-45 minutes in and same prob. I can fix it by just ejected it and putting it back in like 2 times then it's good for another 30-45 minutes. Same prob as others have reported or bad media?
Yes, it's a legit Wiikey and not a clone.

Yeah... Mines starting to act up as well, not this bad though. I am also using verbatim discs.. The wii has started makings some wierd noises from the drive.. almost like an out of balance disc... Im wondering if these discs have something to do with the problem.. Is your wii making noise as well???
I know my solder job is sound, so i have a feeling something else is going on... Mine has only errored once. I dont like that noise though, soft vibration.

Nope, no weird sounds from the drive. I just remembered a situation like this happening to me with Blazing Angels and Need for Speed:Carbon. One time in each, I was playing along perfectly fine and all of a sudden popped up a "DRE" type message. Rebooted and never had the prob again. (Never played the games that much again afterwards. :)
I burned another copy of SMG on a different Verbatim brand "non-shiny" surface and burned at 4x. So far so good........haven't had my daughter yell for me. (Other than to help her with a tough part.) If I don't see any more DRE's in SMG the rest of the day, it was probably a bad burn. If it happens again, I'll let ya know. (And anyone else that cares.)

Another few hours of SMG with the new, 4x, burned disc and no problems at all. Guess it was bad media/burn on the first one? (knocking on wood.......)

Another multi-hour SMG gaming session under my belt and no further DREs with new disc. Some of you may be shocked by this next statement but if I can find a copy tomorrow, I'm going to buy this game. This is one of those A+++ titles on the Wii and I just wanna contribute so we can hopefully see a SMG II. (This game is a blast!)
