I recently purchased a modded US Wii, but was given no warning about what games to use or not use.
Yesterday I put in a Japanese SMG, and it ran the update... now I can no longer use the Wii settings, the time and date are all messed up, and I have duplicate forecast and news channels.
After reading on here, I gather this is called "semi-bricked".
How can I solve this...? Please help.

This is a semi-brick and there is nothing you can do until a new firmware is released. Then you need to get hold of a US game with the new firmware update. Then upgrade and this should fix your settings.

The ONLY way to solve it is to wait for a US game that has an update to fix it... the next game that has an update might not be able to solve it. You just have to be patient and wait. I had this happen to me a LONG time ago.
I believe this will only fix your settings. As fas as I know there's no way to get rid of duplicate channels.

Does anyone know which US game would fix the update issue from Japanese Super Mario Galaxy?
I really don't know which updates are which, so if anyone has any idea which game I should try to get I would be really grateful, as I only have another week to get hold of a game to fix the semi-bricking...

Right now nothing will fix your semi-brick... you have to wait a while until a new game comes out with an update.
