I'm new to modchipping. I'm taking the risk of my new wii and trying to learn some modchipping skills. Here are some questions I need to ask before I start.

1. When disassemble the wii, are there special screw with wierd shapes or only cross srews? (so i can prepare the tools)
2. Which installation for D2Ckey is better? D2Ckey official guide or Neoasic guide. Which one is easier or more comfortable to work with.

3. How long should the wires approximately be?
4. How does D2Ckey Flex PCB Cable help? Would it be really difficult without it?

1. You need a small tri-wing driver, these screws are scattered all over the console case.
2. Only done the official one (soldering to legs not vias). There's some danger detaching the ribbon cable if you have to remove the PCB completely from the drive. Tried soldering the wires vertically at first and folding over the chip but found the 30g core easily snaps so ended up soldering with the wires flat on the PCB and used gentle bends. Be prepared with some solder wick in case you bridge any pins.
3. I used much longer bits of wire than needed then routed them to the D2Ckey before cutting to length.
4. Makes it easier to solder to the D2C chip, reduces risk of making wrong connection. It's not 'difficult' without it - just need to check each connection to be sure.

Sugest you practice on an old pcb rather than your new Wii!

thank you for the advises. I will do plenty of practices before I start doing the actual.
