Xbox Live currently down, engineers investigating

Their engineers are looking into the problem and are trying to resolve the issue at the moment. Hopefully things will be running smoothly soon.

Perhaps you need to also check your connection. I'm not sure where you are located but I have been on live all day up until 4 pm EST. If you have been experiencing this since you had live, either you must be connecting to a shitty server or perhaps your connection is having some issues. The ads are the first thing that should load since M$ wants to pump us full of those :p

Sounds to me like maybe your having issues beyond your 360....I would start looking at your network connection. I was on live earlier today but havent been on it since around 2 or 3 this afternoon...

While im sure this will be immediately deemed a "xbot" post, I have found live to be quite reliable, they have scheduled maintenance every couple months usually with notice long in advance but for the most part rarely have issues. I have experienced far more issues connecting to PSN its been better lately but the first month I had it there seemed to be a crapshoot.

I actually agree with you. accidents happen, but hey anytime something happens like warhawk going down for a patch or something all you hear is "this is why I pay for live" and "you get what you pay for" even when it's few and far between (and since I've been on it's never effected the whole of PSN. I haven't had any of those problems. The other problem I've had is my party gets dropped on COD4 and friends can't connect to me a lot of the time. I'd have to say it needs a patch because COD3 was like that when it first came out. Other than that it all works.......for me atleast. Maybe you need to put your 360 in your Routers DMZ? As far as the PSN goes I have so much lag in online games. It's mostly from people thinking that they can host large games on standard connections.

Thats your own fault do a connection test then open the right ports in your router or as an alternative get a decent connection.
If you have been having these troubles since purchase you would of contacted ms so we will leave this one down to the dumbness or fanboy factor.

Also on this free vs paid issue and kids.. which service comes without a microphone as standard and lets anyone on, so much for teamplay when we can't even communicate without everyone buying special warwhore bundles just for a jabra BT135 :D

You can purchase the Jabra headset as standalone, amazon is the answer... Regarding the service with a microphone remark, if I remember correctly the premium version console is the one that comes with a headset.

I am thinking the servers got overloaded because of the increase in network traffic from the holiday weekend. Lots of people on christmas break, no work, no school, etc = insanely high increase in traffic. I was trying to download a 98 mb trailer and I was downloading about 1 mb per minute. Several friends were having laggy multiplayer matches or couldn't connect at all. I am sure things will improve when people start returning to work/school etc.

p.s. @shakoor_h voice headsets come with core packs, premium packs, elite packs, the vision camera, xbox live startup kit, and the 360 chatpad (controller keyboard attachment). So needless to say, Microsoft gives headsets away like it's candy.

No one was flaming...he was saying he was having trouble before live was down...and said he constantly had problems...I was offering some advice that he may want to check his internet connection...how was that flaming?

If your referring to my comment to Dennis...he hasnt posted a positive post since his brother got his 360 (he doesnt have his own, that wasnt a flame..that was fact he has mentioned it himself). If the 360 makes him so freaking miserable he really should just not play it. Both he and Mashti are constantly whining about how crappy their 360's are, if they hate it so much they should really find something else to do and stop giving themselves ulcers...no one is required to like it but judging by their posts they get far more pain than pleasure out of playing one so why bother??

What part of he mentioned problems BEFORE the outages do you not understand? It was well discussed and on major nelsons page that there were current problems, he mentioned never being able to get demos reliably and slow loading of live screens.
