So ok, i recently took my Wii to Playtronix in Hackney to have a Wiikey fitted, excellent service might i say! 1 hour and it was fitted!

i took it home with me and tested a backed up game (of which i own the original) and it woked fine! after an hour i thought i'd try another but this time the disc would not load. Hmm, i thought. I then put the disc that i had been playing back in, and to my suprise...it wouldn't load!

over the next week i noticed a strange trend with the wii. If i put a backup disc in it seems to load fine and i can play to my hearts content for as long as i like, however if i stop playing that game and put in another backed up game the wii will not read the disc! then i put the previous disc which worked fine, back in again and the wii won't read it! this is really strange! and so annoying

Confusion set in! so off i went to my room to scour the internet.

Seems that i am not alone! i took on board everything that was advised in the 100's of forum posts i read. I took the wii back to Playtronix who happily looked at it again and re-soldered the wiikey, i bought some Taiyo Yuden Discs (genuine i might add! i checked with disc identifier) and also some ritek and verbatims.

i took it home in hope that the problem had been fixed but....No. same thing.

I phoned up playtronix and they helpfully advised to update the wiikey to 1.9b. Armed with this advice i embarked on a mission to update the wiikey. 2 days later after some painstaking research into how to create a wiikey 1.9b disk i managed to update it. unfortunately it didn't solve my problem.

So now i have a wii which plays originals perfectly fine but plays backups very very inconsistently!

what do i do?? right now i have partially given up! i have checked everything that i need to check...

Wiikey original - check
Soldering done correctly - check
DVD media - (taiyo,Ritek Verbs DVD-R) - Check
where do i go from here?

If someone out there has any advice i am a good listener! and very appreciative! I know there are some very clever people out there so i hope your knowledge can help ease stress lines on my forhead

Could also be your burner, burning speed or burning program what messes it up.

Yeah, I use the TY disks, but also burn at 6x or 4x using IMG Burn and have no problems. I used to have these types of issues when I burned at anything over 6x.

try burning at 2x n 4x speed as wii reads these as 4x n 6x. also try a usb cooling fan for wii, sometimes it gets too hot and stops working.

hope this helps.

I got a PAL Wii with chopped pins and had www.ghost2fitter.co.uk fit my Wiikey.

Had no issues at all.

When SMG came out I had to upgrade WiiKey to 1.9g and had no issues with this and every backup I have played has worked flawlessly.

I burn all my games at x4 on Verbatim DVD-R (Advanced AZ0+) these are readily available from PC World and Maplins (usually about £19.99 per 100)

I use IMG BURN to (http://www.imgburn.com/) to burn at x4 and verfiy the data afterward.

The DVD Burners I use and not very old and both can do DL DVDs.
