I recent bought a Japanese Wii & D2ckey installed during the trip to China, the guy told me not to update the firmware or its gonna brick. I don't understand what he means? can someone explain? can the Japanese Wii + D2ckey play SMG? (I don't have a USA version)

Is the Japanese games classified as PAL?

It's classified as NTSC-J and United States is NTSC-U, PAL is Europe region Code. If your using a D2CKey on it then you should have region override, which means you can play imports/games of a different region than your console without updating/bricking, I have never heard of a D2C that updated with the D2CKey, one of its functions is to give you the ability to play games of a foreign region. Good that you asked, otherwise you would have been misled.

does it mean I can play USA region games on this Jap Wii as long as I have the D2CKEY installed? Do I have to worry about those region block programs?

I see a lot posts where people are bricking their system when playing a game that's not for their region. why is that?

you can brick, use a program called wiibrick blocker to burn your isos. if you've got english (ntsc-u) games from china, they have the updates on them, so i just made an iso and ran it through the brick blocker and reburnt.
