I've got the latest Wii update version 3.1E. Got the latest Wiikey fw 1.9g beta. Galaxy is working just fine. As are all the other games I've burnt in the past. But since last week, I'm not able to burn any working games. Only get read errors.

Same burner, same type of media (Ritek G-05), same speed (4x and 2x). Nothing changed, what could this be???

UPDATE: reverted back to 1.9b, but still same read error. Backups that have worked in the past, still work. So the chip is still okey, as is the firmware. It's just that new backups don't read. Going back to 1.9g.

try cleaning the laser.dont ask me what to use as i am more of a 360 modder,i got a wiikey'd wii and it is working good but,i am sure this question got asked before and that was some advice given.

i am just perusing the forum cos today i am picking up a new wii so i think it will be a d2c chipped one so i am just reading up on modding and chipping and stuff.

my wiikey was fitted by someone else.realy wish i had done it myself.

good luck and hope it gets sorted and you are back to playing backups.

a cleaning disc might correct the prob.

Thanks for the reply, but all the old discs still work fine. It's just the new ones that won't read. So I don't think it's the laser.

Probably a bad burn, I got a Maxell brand RITEKW01 discs and they often don't work.

was it a new spindle of discs? I've had that happen where I'd use one brand with no problems but as soon as I get another one of the same brand/type, none of the discs would work. It's most likely a bad batch of discs. I went back to the store and got a new pack, and they all worked fine.

It's exactly the same spindle, that's what's so weird. And it's not a bad burn as all newly burned discs give the error. Besides I've been using Ritek G05 media discs for as long as I can remember for PS2, Wii, XBox and movies. Never had any problems with them.
