Speaking to a gaming publication, Peter Moore has stated that the idea of EA Sports games as unoriginal is one of the biggest misconceptions in the industry. Adding that he joined EA Sports from MS as it had innovated and been a leader for decades.

“What I've always admired about this place, and EA Sports in particular, has been the company's ability to consistently create compelling, broad-based interactive entertainment while riding the ups and downs of technology without ever stumbling.

We've innovated and been a leader for decades, and that's not easy. EA created a genre with the EA Sports brand, and when you look at how we established and then have consistently innovated in the sports category, it's obvious that EA Sports has not ridden the wave; we've driven the wave.

“Our games have become more and more complicated and complex, and we often get dogged for one of the biggest misconceptions in the entire industry – a lack of innovation year in and year out on annually iterated titles. I bristle at times when I hear this, because nothing could be farther from the truth.”

What successful original IP has EA created in house in the last 10 years??? From what I see EA's version of innovation is look what everyone else is doing..see something cool and buy it.

EA's biggest innovation was to buy and destroy the competition. Never forgive EA for destroying Westwood, Origin, DICE and countless others:mad::mad::mad:

all im going to say is MS had a favor done to itself since Moore left there has hardly been any PR bs talk other than the still employed bafoons Sony hasnt gotten rid off yet. Moore and EA are a match made in heaven, i'll just eat some popcorn while the EA ship sinks slowly into the water.

u forgot to add slapping a higher number at the end of each title each year and using the the saved development budget on executive splurging.

Actally it was PS and Sony that killed Dreamcast and Sega if the blame has to be put on someone else besides Sega themselves.

Thats right. He's getting paid like 1.2 mil (at M$ he had like 800k) a year and also have lots of shares in the company. As long as EA have Madden, Need for Speed and other crappy titles they will have craploads of money.

Still this penis headed dude stuck with M$ during the whole RRoD scandal and I think he was somewhat responsible of the 3 years warranty extension.

It wasn't Sony fault at all. It was Sega who released the mega cd and 32x and had failures and bad management that took Sega into huge debt long before Sony released the ps1. It was the fool this article is about and the rest of the former Sega management that ruined a fantastic company.

We will always have a EA or Ocean before them that sell out for big profits over decent games so just don't buy and move on or if EA went then Ubisoft would probably take their place in the market chucking out rubbish.

Yes of course that´s why i wrote IF in the text besides my point was that PS3 fanbotys always blame most things on MS and 360 and the things they don´t blame on them they blame on Nintendo.

In this case he blamed MS for a couole of things when Sony and PS would be to blame IF (did you see that if!!!!) we have to blame anyone but i agree with you (must be a first considering your share of PS3 Fanboy posts) on that it´s competition that drives theese things.

“What I've always admired about this place, and EA Sports in particular(hello mr brown nose!), has been the company's ability to consistently create compelling, broad-based interactive entertainment while riding the ups and downs of technology without ever stumbling(without stumbling? does the PROMISED NHL 08 online team play work well? NO. did it take FOUR MONTHS after RELEASE for Madden 08 to be patched to WORK CORRECTLY? Yes, and in fact it's not yet released for the ps3 nor did it correct all the issues).

We've innovated and been a leader for decades, and that's not easy.(How hard is it really? When you BUY OUT the competition and OWN the licenses so competition can't even compete? Good job twisting the truth douchebag.) EA created a genre with the EA Sports brand, and when you look at how we established and then have consistently innovated in the sports category, it's obvious that EA Sports has not ridden the wave; we've driven the wave.

“Our games have become more and more complicated and complex(yeah they are too complicated for your own staff to create a working product!), and we often get dogged for one of the biggest misconceptions in the entire industry – a lack of innovation year in and year out on annually iterated titles.(Your own Madden dev's stated in an interview that 06 and 07 were disappointing, and 08 lacked features because the suits wouldn't pay up. How could your game be innovative if your own staff are disappointed in what they created?) I bristle at times when I hear this, because nothing could be farther from the truth.(You couldn't be any further from the truth, now go roll around in your bed of money and piss off)"

that's all I have to say.

If by original you mean EA saw the success of the Tony Hawk IP and wanted a taste.

Well EA always make lots of money, so in that respect they are a success! However they just seem to churn out sequal after sequal and they are all of average quality IMHO. So in terms of being a market leader yes they are in terms of sales, but not in terms of quality.

Moore, in my opinion, is a ****.

Now I'm not a smoker, or anything.... but I'd consider smoking whatever he smoked. "Innovative"?????? where the hell is the dictionary he took that words definition from? because obviously it's wrong. I'm not a strong supporter of innovation or anything, but this guy is so full of it it's unbelievable. Now sony might not be the most innovative company out there, but at least they usually just mix up "improve" with "innovate" since they usually do things better when they copy..... but ea usually stays static or even worst screws things up.

Since this ass left ms, we've seen a decline in all the idiocies spoken from all camps (sony still managed to make us laugh, nowhere near as much though), so I'm guessing his presence was disrupting everyone, yet I see that we won't be free of this guy so easily. All I can say is that I'm glad he went to ea, it would have been a shame if he had gone to some other studio which I actually liked.
