BioShock the highly praised Xbox 360/PC game title has sold over two million units worldwide according to 2K Games. A job listing coming from a team spun out of 2K Boston will reportedly get to work on a sequel while original creator Ken Levine creates something completely new.

Take-Two Interactive must be pretty happy. They were forced to delay Grand Theft Auto IV out of 2007, but the surprise success of 2K Games' BioShock (2K is a division of Take-Two) means they found themselves with an awful nice band-aid. In announcing their financial results for the fourth quarter, Take-Two confirmed BioShock has now sold over two million copies worldwide across Xbox 360 and PC.

Some not-so-carefully worded job listings have already confirmed a sequel (or something in the same vein, at least) is already coming from a team spun out of BioShock creator Ken Levine's studio, 2K Boston. The newly formed 2K Marin will reportedly head the next BioShock title, while Levine works on something completely new.

I hope the second is good and they actually work hard on it. Instead of just cashing in on the success of the original. Either way Ill pick the game up haha because it will be fun to play with the plasmids and everything again.

Good news for the game though it deserves the success it has gotten. i really enjoyed it and cant wait to get the game back from a friend. He is just getting into fps and is not pretty good at halo3 so I told him he hasnt seen anything till he plays bioshock. Because well its an awesome sp game.

I see the potential for a couple of Bioshock spinoff's. I cant really see a sequel since the storyline basically played out. I can easily see a prequel though that would cover what led to Rapture's failure, it would be nice to see Rapture in its heyday, the creation of the sisters and big daddy, and the whole mob boss angle/politics involved could make for an interesting story. I would definately see that as more RPGish than FPS though.

Something I would love to see but completely story deficient would be a tactical game I could see it as a cross between FFTactics and Warhammer...Big Daddys vs Plasmid armed heroes. Of course that leaves open the idea of a squad based game in the same vein.

I think there is alot of Bioshock to be explored but if they want to leave the legacy intact it should all be prior to Bioshock rather than after. Of course like the deathstar...who is to say there werent more "Raptures" built as a failsafe to keep Ryans dream alive....

This doesn't exactly strike me as a spectacular accomplishment considering the so-so AC has already sold 2.5M(last time I saw) and was expected to break 5M by the end of the fiscal year.

About 2m of those sales were based on internet rumours that Jade Raymond would appear nude in the end credits.

still leaves 3M sales for the game!

She's not that hot, I'd slam her, but she's really not that hot. Not to mention she sounds like a complete airhead.

I guess that shows the power of advertising and hot chicks...it certainly says nothing about how good the game really is.

True.

However, I really didn't think the game was as bad as people made it out to be. I enjoyed it from start to finish. Tho I decided not to go around doing everything, cause that was pure balls bullshit. However the assassinations themselves were fun, and I didn't mind the combat.

yeah I bought the game also, it was fun. I didnt think it deserved all the negative reviews and word of mouth that it has been getting. It is not however a great game.

I'm sure she'd appreciate that.
