View Full Version : 52% of all Xbox 360 owners in U.S. picked up Halo 3
Perhaps this doesn't come as a major surprise, but reports indicate that Halo 3 was picked up by 52 percent of all Xbox 360 owners in the United States. This figures signify the importance of the Halo franchise to the Xbox business, which also helped the 360 to move 527,000 units in September.
That's an incredible attach rate and proof positive of the importance of the Halo brand to Microsoft and its Xbox business. Halo 3 has given Xbox 360 a huge lift in terms of console adoption. The Xbox 360 was the top selling console in September with over 527K units sold.
"The power of Halo 3 is quite evident," NPD industry analyst Anita Frazier commented to GameDaily BIZ. "Even more than the attach rate of the game, which is significant, the fact that when it released it drove hardware sales substantially is evidence of the power of the franchise. That is why content is so important - a really killer game drives hardware adoption more than any other factor (including price cuts)."

I can't say I am suprised, appart from orange box, Halo 3 is the most complete game on console for online and offline play. Others come close, and I expect many will say CoD4 beats it now, but at release there was no real substitute.
I guess regardless of what many say on these forums, FPS do sell and are very popular, so having a console that is seen as going hand in hand with FPS and has one of the most popular FPS's is no bad thing for the console buying public as a whole.

Even though there are people that bash it, mostly by ignorant people who never even have played it, nobody can deny that 52% is a very impressive attach rate. Although the game is short and not the graphically best, it is really fun. Fun factor is the most important to me. I hope the revenue generated will help bungie create more fun games.

50% completed it in a day or two. but still cling onto multi player to justify their purchase.
while the rest of us enjoy other games like cod4.

Hehe, sounds like history gearing up to repeat itself like the mighty Killzone for PS2. Hopefully Sony did their homework this time and are not trying to make a quick buck at our expense.

I thought this game sold well in other markets besides America? I guess it's official, pangbulle is stupid enough to post an anti-America comment without consulting google. Oh, and I guess the fact that the game scored well from most reputable review sites doesn't mean anything, huh.
