View Full Version : Sensibe Soccer & Tempest to hit LIVE Arcade on Wednesday
PRESS RELEASE: Two Highly Anticipated Games "Sensible World of Soccer" and "Tempest" Head to Xbox LIVE Arcade this Wednesday
LONDON, 17th December, 2007 - The game that inspired a generation, “Sensible World of Soccer,” and a game that will have players reliving their quarter dropping days, “Tempest™,” arrives on Xbox LIVE® Arcade for Xbox 360™ this Wednesday, 19th December, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. GMT.
“Sensible World of Soccer” draws on the 96 / 97 original to re-create one of the most influential games of all time for the first time in HD. Challenge friends over Xbox LIVE, kick it solo in Career mode or flex your managerial muscles by leading a team to the Champions league! The game also features a helpful tutorial mode to bring players up to speed on the most popular sport in the world.
A true classic, “Tempest” is an intense shooter game requiring skill and lightning quick reflexes. Players must harness their firepower to shoot and destroy enemy hordes in a desperate fight for survival across fluorescent geometric battlefields. “Tempest” contains both the original and enhanced gameplay modes.
Where can I get “Sensible World of Soccer” and “Tempest “ from?
Sensible World of Soccer: available for 800 MS Points from 9:00 a.m. GMT, Wednesday 19th December 2007

You do realise that (and I'm not one of them) there are those who still think of Sensible Soccer as the finest footie game ever to grace the gaming community?
Do you also not realise that this, in the UK at least, is one of the most highly anticipated downloadable games for a long time?
While it may not be either your or my cup of tea, it's a big deal that this is going to be available on XBL.

wow how ignorant the three posters above me are... Sensible (not sensibe) Soccer was the holy grail of football games, a true classic. To say something like you'd have to be incredibly bored to play that. would be like saying you'd have to be incredibly bored to play Street Fighter another classic game.
I guess the above three people grew up on Fifa video games and have no idea about classic titles that bring back years of memories.

Well you get your "sensible soccer" and play your "holy grail" football games , while we player our inferior Pro's and Fifa's. As a gamer and a soccer fan I can't see why anyone would see this game as "holy" by todays standards , it lacks in every measurable department , graphics , gameplay , physics , realism , music , longetivity , mulitplayer etc etc.
I'm entitled to my opinion and in my opinion sensible socer sucks.

I guess this shows the age gap between gaming generations, those of us that remember Sensible and Tempest the first time around are excited to get them the kiddies bash it because its not as pretty as the current stuff.

nobody cares about these crappy games
'nobody' means that there's not a single person that cares about this game, which isn't the case. with that being said you're wrong, so stop posting.
i wonder how many times ps3 'fans' (i have nothing against real ps3 fans) are gonna ***** about XBLA games, which are really nice most of the times.
besides saying that 'in my opinion ss sucks' is immature, a decent person would say something like 'sensible soccer isn't a game i'd pay for, simply because i don't like it' ;)

To be fair the problem isnt PS3 or 360 or Wii fans as much as it is children being allowed to post without parental supervision.

Sensible Soccer is on my list of top 20 games EVER. There were soooooo many nice memories i link to SS and soooo many broken joysticks (played it on Amiga). It is easily my choice of best football game.
It simply has something that PES or FIFA will never have.
That said, i wonder how many SS bashers in this thread actually played it?

w000t!1111 bout time SWOS hit live arcade after being delayed so many times, I just hope it lives up to the expectation level. Anybody who claims Pro Evo/Fifa are better games hasn't played any previous iterations of Sensible, it may not be the "beautiful game" in terms of graphics but it certainly is gameplay wise.
I'm not a fanboy, just someone who grew up playing numerous crap games in the 80s and can appreciate the true classics of the time.
I guarantee SWOS will be the best 800 points you spend on XBLA this year :)

Can't say I've played this myself, as it was before my time.. But I can say that I will check this out.. I'm always down for the whole old-school throwback, so this will definitely be interesting. Graphics look nice (the character sprites), and the gameplay, from what it sounds like seems solid.
Some games just don't age.. Tetris being one of them.. Pac-Man, Bomberman, etc. Ironically, all of them have had revivals on XBLA, in addition to tons of other old-school games from the 80's.
Let me know your thoughts post-release guys.. be interesting to check this out.

i would seriously buy a 360 just for this.
no joke
to all the people slagging it off: shush if you can't appreciate the value of old games that some people hold dear to them. try getting an old console and playing some of it's classics at length before you say "oh it's boring".
to everyone else: i personally haven't played SWOS since it's not my type of game but i can appreciate the value it holds to some people due to their memories (being a regular on a abandonware site and being a fan of old games myself, i can certainly appreciate it)
