so i got some games to load but on all three games i see a problem...

to start off
with a SCPH-39001 fat ps2
along with firmwares 1.2e and 1.1

DragonBall-Z-Budokai-3-CE
it skips the cut scenes in story mode, but the fighting and flyings all there

Odin_Sphere
it doesnt let me save but smooth gameplay until you actually try saving(doesnt let me choose a diffenent mem slot, i wonder if thats a problem with memor32, does anyone know if your ps2 can still read other mem cards + memor32 in first)

Persona 3
skips cut scenes, or stops right in the middle of them and freezes

Guilty Gear XX
Skips cut scenes, movies, and mfg. loading screens either right at the beginning or in the middle of them

Need For Speed Pro Street
pauses....and for a really long unbareable time 4-5 min.

...now i have some questions just in case anyone made it this far

1.have you guys had this problem, the games dont let me choose a diffenent mem slot, i wonder if thats a problem with memor32, does anyone know if your ps2 can still read other mem cards + memor32 in first

2.does memor32 NEED to be in first slot to work? b/c iv tried it in the second slot and no go

3.iv cleaned my laser recently with a CD lens cleaner but could my ps2 laser be the problem? the only other game i can recall having problems was MARVEL VS CAPCOM 2 (im thinking maybe b/c its a CD rather than DVD) if so what solutions can i go about to fix this problem? an extreme as to physically replace the laser? maybe try a more efficient way and get HDLoader and HDD+network adapter (by the way is there a thread that explains how to put games on a HDD along with what folders to make ect. the whole 9 yards? so that i can just wait until MEMENTO makes a firmware with a built-in feature so i can skip the whole process of needing .ELFs, HDLoader and my maybe-dying Laser?

4.do the patches for 1.1 and 1.2e make a difference? i patch with 1.1 it says its patched already if i use 1.2e's patch and vice versa.

5.you guys experiencing long loading screens on all games?

6.lastly what Brand DVD and Speed should i be burning? iv been using Memorex DVD-R and the lowest it can record is 6X, i heard -R is better for FAT PS2 is that true?

7. has anyone played ANY game 30 min through with no problem yet?

Seriously any help would be greatly appreciated, im sure some other people want to know as well.

0. Since you you a bulky v39001 i stongly suggest only using the v1.2e firmware as it seem to be best at the moment for bulky users. The older v1.1 is only used by people with slimline ps2s that cant use the v1.2e.

1. & 2. just had a go and i cant get anything to run if:
- the Memor32 is alone in slot 2
- there is another mc in the other slot.

It seems that memor32 i quite dependant on all its ports being free. Like the other error: dont use non-sony dual shock 2 (read: only use the official sony dual shock 2 pad).

3. Have you been playing these backups with swapmagic or similar also? And have you used this media on your ps2 before? If you have .. then its the Memor32 that cant boot the backups properly. If you havnt .. then it COULD be your laser of cause. This dosnt have to mean that your laser is dying .. maybe its just going out of sync. On the back of the ps2 laser are 2 adjustment screws for the CD and DVD reading:
http://pchan.250free.com/laser.JPEG

With time these screws get a little out of sync. Also these screws has been set to best work with ORIGINAL games .. and so may already from the very factory have been "off-sync" with burnable media. As you can see there is 2 screws .. so even if the CD you got is working perfect .. the DVD backups can be completely unreadable by the laser.
I wouldnt recogment trying to adjust the laser .. unless as a absolutley LAST resort .. better try out and see if there are other media that works, before attemting any change .. also note that the screws are extremely sensitive .. a 1/16 of a turn can make a HUGE difference.

4. The patcher(s) hasnt changed anything .. the patcher included with the lastest v1.2e is the same as the first 0.9c one.
There is a lot of changes in the firmware tho.

5. Not all of them .. a few works quite slow and has serious slowdowns in booting or movies .. most works really well and glitchfree.

6. Thats is the hard part. No one can tell you exactly what media will work best on YOUR ps2 .. as explained before its all up to your laser .. Dvd-r seem to be what most people use but that dosnt mean that dvd+r dosnt work just as well (at least with swapmagic .. i dont know if Memor32 has any restrictions). Burning speed: dosnt really matter today, its was a thing of the past when pcs wasnt strong enough to handle the fast burning speeds. Still staying on the safe side and burning "slow" at 4-12x is probably the best to get a more steady burn.

7. Had a go with Onimusha & Rogue Galaxy and didnt spot anything slow or off for about an hour both. Shadow Hearts on the other hand took 8 minutes to get to the "start" screen.

About ps2 backup playing in general:
Ps2 games are highly protected .. just look at Swapmagic how they used years to get to where they are now and there are still games that wont run with swapmagic. Swapmagicfixdot com was a good place to go if you wanted see what games needed endless updates to cdloader in order to boot (100+ games was listed there). Memor32 has been out .. 4 weeks .. and will probably have to do the same thing all over from scratch. So will Memor32 ever be the perfect backups tool? no! NOTHING will ever be THAT good .. but lets give it some time al least and see what happens .. worst case you can always boot swapmagic from Memor32 :D

Wait, so if you have to have all the memory card slots free, how are you supposed to save your games??
