I had a look at sony ear friendly head phones thay look good but sound crap .
so i open them up and found that there is a littal Resistor in line so i soldered the wire to the other side of the Resistor on both ear pieces. now thay sound louder so if you want to use psp new headphones just try this
soldering iron needed :)

UK Law maeans that all earphones need this, something to do with stopping people going deaf, thats why there is no resistor in the US or JAP ones.
My Jap ones are quiet like, any recommendations on a decent pair to use with the remote?
Cheers

I have psp-1001 USA ver and I don't have resistors on the earbud either... would have been nice to fix the quality earbuds to produce louder sound... oh well thanks anyway.

the headphones that come with the psp are awful, they feel tacky and cheap and let the side down compared to the pure quality of the psp itself.

aggreed. tossed them in my side pouch of my sony trv-33 camcorder's travel case (samsonite). psp definitely deserves better headphones than those. they are ideal headphones for the camcorder though for reviewing and watching on it's lcd...it's hard to hear the camera's built in speaker sometimes.
