Ubisoft has reportedly announced that Assassin's Creed is the fastest selling new video game IP in the US ever. Ubisoft has moved 2.5 million units of the game already for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and have increased their sales estimates for 2007/2008 from three million to five million units.

Assassin's Creed is now officially the fastest-selling new video game IP in the US, ever. Ubisoft have already shifted over 2.5 million units worldwide on both the PS3 and the Xbox 360, and they have increased their original sales estimate for 2007/2008 from three to five million units of the game as a result.

The net result is that Ubisoft have raised their expectations across the business and are reporting they will clear an additional €15m in sales revenue.

I guess that every game is gonna have some fake Geek Girl to promote it from now on. hahaha. Just call her a producer. The vaguest job title in the world...

This game isn't that great. I watched X-Play and saw that they gave it a 5 out of 5 yet they gave Uncharted: Drake's Fortune a 4 out of 5. I'm sorry but I've been playing games for 25 years now and I think I know what's fun and what's not and Assassin's Creed was not nearly as much fun as Drake's Fortune. I'm begging to think that all these reviewers don't actually play these games. How else can you explain all these mediocre games getting such good reviews lately?

I only played the demo of Uncharted.. and I actually LIKE Assassin's Creed... Yet I still feel like Uncharted will be the better game. It's the difference between variety and repetitiveness.

I am still happy with my appraisal of Heavenly Sword. I think I'm going to go back and beat it again soon. It's just a nice, fun hack and slash with great production values. Total old-school, imo. Maybe after I beat that again, I'll get out Ikaruga as well (on the GC). Ikaruga is the game that made old-school look too fresh.

No, it's from three to five million units, meaning Ubi originally estimated total sales of 3 million and have now upped that to 5 million.

I dont understand why people are hating this game so much. I personally love it, and having been to Jerusalem and Acre, I find it interesting playing a game set there recreating what the cities were like, since you can see remnants of it today.

The idea is interesting, the whole memories in your DNA and going back and reliving them is pretty original. The controls are very precise, its one of the best looking games out, and is very polished. I think they nailed it on this one.

For the people who claim its repetative, what game isn't? Every great game ever made has the same things repeated over and over ad nausem. Mario, Zelda, Ico, Rez, every FPS ever made. The list can go on forever.

Its ok, if it hadnt been hyped so much it would probably recieve alot more love...but frankly they talked it up like it was something revolutionary and what was delivered fell way short IMHO. Most games are repetative but at least there is a change of scenery...the drab surroundings of AC make the repetative seem even more repetative, it would probably have been better if they shook things up a bit and maybe had the character going back and forth from present to the future or having to go to totally different locales. Its technically well done but I have to agree with others by the time you get halfway through its about as fun as watching paint dry.
