Microsoft's UK head of gaming and entertainment has commented that the company is struggling to meet demand from every retailer every week. He commented that Christmas is a fun time and that part of the difficulty is finding enough vans to ship all the consoles around and a lot of planning goes into that.

GSUK: Are you pleased with the fact that Xboxes, which as you say may be on many people's lists, are actually available in stores? Is that something you've worked hard towards?

SM: It is. We're struggling to meet the demand from every retailer every week. I think we've probably done it better than some of our cohorts out there, but it's a weekly thing--we're getting stock in, we're getting it straight out to the retailers who need it. Obviously we've got three different varieties: We've got the Arcade, the main 360, and the Elite. They're going to different types of customers, and different retail outlets.

It's a fun time, Christmas; part of the difficulty is actually finding enough vans to ship it all around, so a lot of planning goes into that.

lol thats a lie, weve got a stupid amount of 360s in at our story over a 100 units easily. looks like MS are shipping loads of consoles out not to meet demand but to fake sales results by saying weve sold X amount of consoles this christmas. When really they will be in our stock rooms

met a customer in Gamestation today, they were so happy they managed to get their unreliable XBox 360 swapped for the more reliable XBox Elite... maybe the struggling stock is ready for the replacements...

probably because all the vans are too busy collecting 360s from unhappy customers after they get the RRoD.

I was suspecting Nintendo of deception when they said they where struggling to meet demand, But now MS ? I won't even entertain their Bull S**t with a comment.

A couple of weeks ago I went to 4 different stores (Toys'R'US, PcWorld, Game and Gamestation) looking for an Elite in the town where I live and there wasn't one to be found. Plenty of Pro's though.

And, as can be expected, PS3's were more than readily available.

Not a Wii to be found anywhere.

There's loads of them in stock everywhere around here. Only one place was out of Pros (but had Elite and Halo editions), and that wasn't really a game retailer, the last time I was around in the shops. One shop had consoles with a manufacturing date of august last year and another when I asked about checking the date told me "these ones will be old as we don't do much turnover on the 360"

It's a good thing the 360 has a weakness, cause then what would all you fan boys say? The reliability issue is hardly an issue cause anyone with the RRoD have had their console repaired and are again playing the console. It's hardly an issue, I went through it a year ago, they sent a coffin, i sent my broken 360 off, i went and bought a borrowed core, continued gaming, received my fixed xbox, returned the core, hardly missed a moment. And now with the falcon revision you guys aren't even going to have that to toss around, what will you do then? The warranty is 3 years, prior to that consoles had a 3 month warranty, so reliable or not, you are guaranteed a working console for 3 years.

As for the article, looks like MS is already trying to adopt Nintendo's business strategies, but i think it's a bit late this generation. I'm sure the xbox 361, which will have a gimmick, crappy interface, crappy controller, xbox live removed in place of gamer codes, dvd function removed, xbox live arcade games will have all enhancements removed and jacked up in price, high definition removed, an insane amount of shovelware in it's library, and no stock available in stores, should be something to look forward to.

I can concur with this in SoCal. While the 360 isn't constantly sold out like the Wii, we are usually sold out of at least the Elite or the Pro. When we have one in stock, the other is out of stock. They sell pretty briskly.

but this was a guy from ms UK and hes lying.

the 360 in all 3 versions is readily available pretty much everywhere (as is the ps3).

truth is, this is just bullshit that M$ are making up to try and show people there 360s are completely selling out, they are mostly broken and most people are waiting for there 3rd/4th 360!

I work at Currys possibly the largest electrical retailer in the UK and we regularly sell out of 360s at our branch, we barely ever have Wiis in stock (they sell out as soon as we get them) and PS3s have sold out before but not regularly.
