Yoshinori Ono has confirmed that Street Fighter IV will follow the trend and go online as this is an absolute neccessary. He commented the project is still in its infancy so he can't go into too much detail but he wants this to tie around the SF IV concept of going around the world fighting and getting stronger. Ono suggested that existing online technology will be used and you just have to work around any latency issues. However he warned not to expect the crazy item collection and customization offered by other fighters as this would hurt the integrity of the game. Lastly he suggested microtransactions seem like a cool idea but it's up the company as a whole to permit such a strategy.
