Memento release Firmware v1.0 - 'first true plug and play Modchip for PS2/Two'

Memento has released firmware v1.0 for use with the Memor 32 memory card which works on both PAL AND NTSC PS2 consoles ranging from versions 3 all the way up to the latest version. This build also supports DVD based PS2 games using a custom transparent patcher which will result with discs working with both Memento firmware and normal modchips/swap discs! Future features inclue USB HDD suppor and much more. The use of the hacked Memento firmware in conjunction with the Memor 32 results in no warranty loss as there is no need to open the console, it is a complete plug and play solution which means it can be used on any console whenever you please and soon will allow for the launching of backups from HDD and USB HDD WITHOUT the need to patch them. So all in all, this firmware in conjunction with the Memor 32 will allow backups to be played on all PS2/Two models, and you could even take the card to a friends house and use it on their unmodified console without any long lasting effects! After weeks of work and testing, we are proud to announce the completion of the memento Firmware V1.0 for the memor32 memory card.

Main Features of this version :

- Works on v3-v16(SCPH-7900x) PAL and USA PS2
- Support for DVD-based ps2 games by using our custom transparent patcher (game files are not modified and patched discs will work with both Memento firmware and normal modchips/swap discs).

With Memento V1.0 release we belive that we have finally created the first true Plug and Play Modchip for the PS2 using the hardware of the memor32 powered by our Memento software!

Additional features coming in the next releases:

- .ELF files boot from USB, Memory Card and HDD to give the Memento the same DEVOULTION functions as found on higher end modchip like DMS4, Infinity or Crystal .

- HDD and USB-HDD support to enable boot of "unpatched" game ISO files from HDD and USB-HDD!

- Support for PS2 CD based games.

- User interface to control and customize settings and options on the Memento/Ps2.

- Support for PS1 based games

This exploit requires MagicGate. Every single one of these cards is identical which allows the exploit to be signed once and run on every one of the cards. Normal memory cards are supposed to be unique with different codes so the exploit would have to be signed for every single card.

I expect to see a clone of this memory card at some point but I doubt that an open exploit that can be put on any memory card is even possible.

:)does ANYONE know if this will boot dual layer backups? Hooo yes, playing God of War 2 Backup right now!! But I have noticed that it's very fussy in what games it will boot as GTA VC Stories will load titles and hang. Maybe this will be rectified with future releases of the firmware.

I just don't see the difference between this and the Independence Exploit. I mean both exploits work on both slim and fat models (http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/337567) and both can't do USB hard drives yet, both do plug in play with any console.

Guys does the FW allow you to run NTSC games on a PAL machine .. I would try my new memento mem card but I am waiting on my new slimline ps2 to arrive ...

Why are people always looking for a free option? Just man-up and buy the card. People are way too cheap nowadays. :mad:

Additionally, this can't be done with a normal memory card, as the Memor32 has Actel hardware in it (fyi: Actel produces DMS 4 modchips).

You probably should reburn your backup games before they decay/suffer bitrot or get too scratched up anyway.

And everyone knows the only reason the memory card is 70$ is because Memor32 and Memento are the same people just trying to hide in the shadows while selling a modchip like solution. It's silly. It's just like the ViperGC and the "Cobra team" that makes the bios for a chip no one had yet but oh no they aren't the same people!

Well not every single gameplays off of HDloader.. so you could burn whatever doesn't play, and play using this method.

The next firmware release claims that HD booting and compatibility will be in, and speaking as one who has a failing laser inside his obese PS2, being able to completely bypass the drive altogether gets mega points in my book..I'm very much looking forward to the next release. :D

You should be able to do this with the current firmware 1.1 by booting HDLoader from DEV1 from what I can see.

Does anyone know if using Memento to load off the hard drive will have the same problems as HDLoader? I'm not sure if that was a software or hardware problem with that. Still not sure which would be the best solution for playing off the hard drive.
