Hi,
I have following the GC scene since the discovery of the PSO issue, really excited about it and couldn't wait to enjoy a few releases.
Now it is time for me to try and F!... I can't seem to figure out what is wrong in my process.
Here is the deal: I don't think I set up my PC properly and I don't know what is wrong.
My pc is using a cable internet connection(comcast) and under the network settings I have a LAN already there. I open it, changed it to a static IP (192.168.1.100) to fool the GC. But as soon as I unplug the cable (utp-cat5) from the cable modem to connect it to the GC adapter I get a "cable unplug" on my PC and a red cross on the LAN connection.
At that point I can only ping my Tc/Ip stack on 127.0.0.1 but nothing else is reacting (nothing on 192.168.1.100).... And obviously I get nothing for the PSO on the GC....
Something to mention; under my network setting on the PC I also have a "1394 Connection" that is also a LAN. I think it is a chip on the motherboard but I don't think it should get in the way...
So I am stuck, I have been trying for 2 weeks on and on but still can't do it....
HELP please....

Are you using the "How to load Gamecube games and or Homebrew over a LAN: V2.0" doc from the files section? You can't unplug the cable from the cable modem and plug it into the GC...you have to use a crossover ethernet cable. The one going from your PC to the cable modem is a regular cat-5 cable and will not work directly. You have to either use a router in between your PC and the GC with regular cat-5 cables, or buy a crossover cable to connect them directly. Keep in mind the x-over cable won't work with the cable modem, so you'll probably want to get a 2nd network card just for the GC if you go that route so you can have that and your cable modme connected and not have to switch cables back and forth...or just get a (preferably Linksys) router for about $30. Hope that helps.

I just went to Fry's for that cable, the only crossover cable that I have been able to get is a cat6.

i remember reading about cat5 ....
Grrr I am still not sure it is the right one !

Yes I think a cat 6 crossover cable would work fine. It's a little overkill but would do the trick.

I have been playing my first release yesterday !
Naruto2. Sweet, perfect import. Was nice to play that speedy fighting Jap game
For information, I had to rename to music folder to play the GCM. Then it worked flawlesly with any loader...
Again, THANKS !

I had the exact same issue, actually, the game would work at all.
You need to open the GCM file using GCtool (on that web site under file) and rename the folder containing music. That will prevent the music from streaming but will keep the fightings sound effects.
Game is gorgeous. Play it
Now I though this was going to work with most of the releases but aside from Naruto, I haven't been able to play anything.....YET :)

whoa so much to reply too.. ok gaba I assume you got the issue with the red cross fixed? if not just disable the lan reinstall your drivers, the lan will automatically be reinstalled and the BBA will be reconized by your comp.
With the sound issue you don't ahve to use gc tool and all that, just go into.... one of the menus in the options screen (damn I can't remember which one it was exaclty) but all I remember its the option screen that shows an ear in the background. On the first option switch that to the option on the right and boom BGM music is off.
NiCzii:
What are you using? a hub? router? crossover cable? what?
hey i've been having the exact same problems, get to the loading screen of my choice then when the gcm loads the cube shows the first second of whatever intro is on the gcm, then the streaming stops and freezes the cube. So close yet so far.....ive used many setups including different routers and even tried a crossover cable yet with no luck. I can load homebrew .dol's no problem though....its just those damn gcms..... I wish i knew whats was the cause of this problem. Any help would be aprreciated.Thx.
