Hello,

I have a fat ps2 (version 7) that I've put a duo3 modchip in. I've also added a ps2 network adaptor with a hard drive, all working. I'm using HDLoader 0.8B burned to a dvd to boot and have about 7 games on my HDD.

I'm trying to figure out how to have the system boot hdloader (or other launcher?) right from the HDD without the need of any CD/DVD. Is this possible? The whole point of this is to not have to worry about games getting scratched or the dvd laser/motor failing in the future (I can always replace the hard drive).

My understanding is that I can hold R2 at power on to boot from HDD but I can't figure out how to get the launcher/loader software onto the HDD. Simply adding the image via. WinHIIP didn't do it.

Thanks guys,

Pete

Hi Pete

For this u will need a modchip with DE2 capabilities.

as far as i know, only DMS4 or Matrix Infinity has it.

u nned to make a path in the hdd

_boot / boot.elf (any proggie u want to boot first, i use uLaunchelf.)

Thanks for the reply.

I think my modchip (Duo3) can do it. It says if you hold R2 while powering up it'll boot from HDD (dev2 capability?). It can also boot from memory card, which would be ok I suppose.

If I install my HDD back into my PC, what program can I use to create the _boot folder and add the boot.elf?

Thanks for the help.
