First off, I plan on buying a WiiKey.

DVD-R vs DVD+R:
DVD-R advantages (AFAIK, looking for replies..):
- Seemingly higher compatibility with Wii modchips in general
- Marginally higher capacity (4.71GB compared to 4.7GB for DVD+R)

DVD+R advantages (again, afaik):
- Changeable "book type", to make it appear to the Wii as DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM, whatever.. (does this really matter for compatibility?)

DVD-RW vs DVD+RW:
DVD-RW advantages:
.. I honestly can't find any.. This has about the same compatibility as DVD+RW, but with less features..

DVD+RW advantages:
"DVD+RW supports random write access, which means that data can be added and removed without erasing the whole disc and starting over (up to about 1000 times)."

If you have any knowledge/experience comparing these different formats, let me know (trying to decide myself, though this might help somebody else, too)

Doesnt matter as most modchips will read - + and RW. You cant use the RW like that as the wii wont read the disk unless its finalized.

Damn. So RW is basically useless?

Bullshit!
I use DVD+RW (Verbatim) to test the Wii games.

Then if they are good, I burn them on a real DVD.

So that is pure bull!
Also if you finalize a DVD+RW, you can just Format it again!

There's some useful information!

I think I'll just use a DVD+RW for the setup disks, instead of having a bunch of useless DVD-Rs laying around with setup files on them I'm probably never going to reuse..
