While I'm still waiting on my DMS3 chip, It seem to me it should be possible to run binaries off the harddrive. Has anyone put any thought into this? Now that the harddrives will become more mainstream, we could see a wave of homebrew possibilities! I'm not suggesting the initial ability to run games off the harddrive, although im sure there are alot of people without dvd-r drives out there who would like that, but just simple binaries. Maybe I'm just uninformed and there already is support for it :)

I'll be interested to see what comes of these developments.. but it seems for those interested in hdd developments that the chip of choice would be the dms3 with the latest flash upgrades

it would need a new dms3 design to do this patching routines on the bios that control hd stuff would need rewriting to allow people to develop hd apps to allow binaries etc etc.

Well the DMS team has made metion of the Beta HDD kits, so I'm sure it won't be too long before they can get some HDD functionality from the DMS chip. Also a hacked version of this ( http://www.snsys.com/PlayStation2/dvdemu.htm ) would be reeaall sweet.
