Went from WiiD to Wiikey but with issues, need help. Thx!

Hi guys,

Couldnt be bothered waiting for WiiD and I dont even know if it will come (I think it will, but not yet), can easily go back if I need to.

I have a JP Wii and am at 3.1J.

Anyway I did this to install it:

1. Removed WiiD.

2. Cut new wires as the wires I used in Wiid were like huge due to not access to 30AWG.

3. Looked at the WiiD to Wiikey install on Afterdawn (which is wrong) and ended up installed the number 1 wire to where the VCC is on the WiiD and wire 2 to where ground is on WiiD.

4. Booted the system which had Zak n Wiki left in it. It showed up in the channel menu. I tried to load the game but gave me a region error. This is very very strange as Zak n Wiki is USA game and my system is Japanese, it should not be able to do this in channel menu even.

5. Rebooted and Z&W didnt come up in the channel menu. Investigated my wiring and Wiikeys and found out the mistake Larry made on Afterdawn forum.

6. Corrected wires. Booted up. The setup discs will be recognised in channel menu as a GC disc as per normal. Only disc that will actually boot past the channel menu is the 1.9g beta disc for SMG. I ran that and worked fine and updated, but nothing else will work.

Do I have a clone? It does come with a hologram sticker inside a very small electrostatic bag.

If I do that disc, will it work. But I want to know if I have a clone for sure before confronting the seller. He sells both, and I bought the original.

Or is there something else I must do? I dont have a GC controller, but I have another Wiikey here if its logical to test that.

So no games boot? Have you tried the wii configuration disc 1.2 or 1.3 to change your region override settings?

per standard, regionfree= off you need to run the setup disc 1.3

It's the GCOS version of the disc. That should do the trick. ;)

I did try that, just was worried due to the info on the page that it was suggesting my wiikey was a clone. Which it isnt.

All is working fine now, just after Mario Galaxy JP now :).
