I am interested in buying a white PSP to match my white DS and PS2 but I don't want to lose my homebrew. I currently have a US PSP-1001K 1.50 and I want to buy the JP PSP-1000KCW 2.00. I was wondering if it is possible to open up both PSPs and switch the hardware inside without any problems.

why not....its not an easy task but you could : )
the front panel is only 7 little screws: 2 on the right+ 4 under the battery+1in the middle down
a double colour wouldbe done in 5 minutes
for the back part....well,i personally never screwd it but the umd slot and the screen are a sensible piece of hardware to reassamble i guess

You say that there is 4 screws under the battery cover. I only see 2. Are the other 2 hidden under the "warranty void" sticker?

hi
i got a jap psp and i noticed that sony changed the plastic sticker position under the battery but i guess the screws are always at their place....
in my psp the 4 screws beneath the battery are disposed in this way:
1 black long screw TOP LEFT
1 metal short screw TOP RIGHT
1 black long screw BOTTOM LEFT
1 metal short screw BOTTOM RIGHT
and they all are under plastic stickers

Shouldn't be that hard as all you really need to change across is the mobo.
This guide should help:

Let us know how it goes...

Wow, that looks alot more complicated than I thought it would be. In order to switch the motherboard, would I have to solder/desolder anything?

No soldering, just disconnect your mobo and reconnect the other one. Stick the PSP back together and you have a funky looking white machine with 1.5 inside.
If this is your first time opening your machine then use a large table and place the items on there in the order that you removed them - once you have swapped the mobo just work backwards and voila...

I just have another question, the square button defect was fixed with this new model, so will I still be able to replace the motherboard without any compatibility problems?

yes because the buttons are a different circut board all together.

I seen a thread on pspupdates about this. the dude had to swap out the umd drive from the 1.5 also. you might want to do that first time this way you wont have to take it apart again. I would link you to the thread btu the forums there are down. They should be up in an hour. Just a heads up. people have doen this before and it does work but the mobo and umd drive has to be swap'd. not sure if anything else caused any problems though. good luck
::EDIT::
Also the circuit board fo the buttons had to be change di believe. so they were compatible. but im not 100% on that

Could you send me a link to the PSPUpdates thread that you are talking about? I can't find it.
