I don't have the time right now to disconnect it because it's late and im all frustrated by the fact that I have to retrace everything... i soldered everything well, checked for strength and then hot glued them down.

So basically the drive doesnt run right now... i will disconnect all the wires from the chip tomorrow and try it... other than that the lights on the d2ckey light up blue/red then the blue goes out followed by the red. Any ideas? I used a magnifying glass to check the connections and they are all solid/in the right place according to the neoasic alternate connections.

Thanks.

edit:
also, the 0 and 1 connections.... those are used in conjunction with the JP1/2?? for region free?? cause there are no mention of them being connected to the board.

are you checking bridges with a multimeter? If not, it's definitely recommended.

The good news is that from my own experience, the drive is pretty hard to break. It's possible but I made some mistakes and it did not break on me. I'm not sure if you can buy just the wii drive as far as I know. Good luck.

I am having exactly the same problems at the moment

Done a D2C instal all looks fine everything where it's supposed to be and nothing touching

But the drive has no activity at all

Both lights come and go on the d2c but can not insert disc at all

Could it possibly be a duff batch of chips

I will desolder everything tomorrow to see if the drive works and then try again :(

I desoldered it all and now the drive is working, I'm wondering if it's the chip?? Did you use the d2ckey installation or the neoasic alternate installation? I think i might try once more but with the normal install, hm.

I dunno if I'd jump to crossing fuses just yet, but you can try it, although after desoldering my drive works.

Did you desolder off the chip or the wires from the ic legs? The drive not starting up is very common occurance with the install, I had it happen a couple times when a wire pop off the ic leg.

I don't know how good the alternative install is, but I heard a couple people did not like the results from it(drive freeze during game play, etc..).

the common problem for disc no spin

Alt X resistor (330 ohms) blew
Wiring incorrect
bridged connection
blown "Z" fuse over by power connector cable

Hmm, is there somewhere on here I can sell my D2CKey?? I've decided that after 1 failed install and the Wii is still working, I am not going to attempt it again because it took me a couple hours with a magnefying glass. My new excellent idea is to trade someone my Wii straight up for theirs, I have 2 friends with D2B's and nintendo scene says that the legs are "probably not cut" so that's a good sign. ~6 Wires should be much easier than 31 :|.. I figure I probably should send it out to be modded... but my trading for an older Wii idea sounds a hell of a lot better and cheaper :D
