Ok for those of you who still cant get it to work try this. Use the filechop.exe in the wiikey config disc. 1.3 and use filechop.exe on the 1.9g update to make the file 1.35gb(You have to use cmd to do this). Also I burned it on to its own disc and it worked. I was one of those people who couldnt get it working till i did this.

Spm?
Well, it's worth a try. I don't understand the part where it says if the 1.3 config and 1.9g update should go on a same disc or not? :x

No, the filechop.exe is in the 1.3 config disc thats it. You use filechop to make the 1.9g update disc into a gamecube size.

Sorry to be a noob, but could you write exactly what you typed in the cmd prompt?

1.9g update certainly needs filechop, but wiikey team didnt mention that in the readme (it is mentioned in 1.9b's readme).
@wonderstuff
filechop.exe bootdisc.xx.iso 1459978240
where xx is your region's code, pal, ntsc or jap

Can you explain it in steps?
Thanks.

Does FileChop remove garbage data from Wii games?

Does FileChop remove garbage data from Wii games?
not exactly,it just burns gamecube discs at an exact amount of data so wii can recognise and play it. Thats why every wii game is exactly 4+ gb although they are not necessarily so big,it must be some kind of security

-download Setup disc v1.3 (PAL/USA/JAP) from wiikey.cn to obtain the filechop app
-download Wiikey 1.9b Update Disc and keep only wkupdate.1.9b.xxx.iso where xxx is your wii's region code
-put both iso and filechop.exe in the root of your hard drive C
-Go to Start->Run,type cmd and press [Enter]
-Type:
cd.. [Enter]
cd.. [Enter]
filechop.exe wkupdate.1.9b.xxx.iso 1459978240 [Enter]
where xxx is your wii's region code
and you are ready to burn this image with your favourite cd burning software at low speed
Follow the same procedure to update to 1.9g.

wait,if you did what i describe, does the image's size change from 40mb to 1.35gb? If so you have succesfully performed the filechop
I saw your thread here http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=86985&highlight=eject
your chip is soldered or just connected with wires on your wii's drive?

yep, it changed to 1.35 gb.
I think it's soldered. the shop did it for me.
the problem is the shop is very far away from where I am now, so I can go but not anytime soon...

Stupid question: if the 1.9g update seems to have installed correctly is there any need for me to worry about filechop?

Well, did what you said. File changed size. But still no joy!
My mates is the same, we had them done at the same shop.
I reckon they're clones.

i think that the update is not being installed without filechop, but i could be wrong. It is supposed that wii can not read discs that are not 1.3gb(gamecube discs) or 4.2gb(wii discs). Thats why if you notice all wii roms have a standard size. Have you tried to play spm or super mario galaxy? If you can play those then the update has been installed with success and i could learn an additional info about wiikey!
