The website above says that it won't work.. although im nt sure if its accurate 'cause alot of people are still getting mixed results.. Has anyone confirmed that it really does NOT work? I also have a JAP Wii... :(

yah i saw the web too..but this(ntsc us -->ntsc j) was posted before the fix was released..but on the ( ntsc us --> Pal)..it was posted after the fix was released...i guess not many people care about the poor NTCS J owners..
its very difficult to find the Japanese Mario galaxy..thats why i need to know before trying the US version....

Did you run the update on SMG? they say that even if you updated your wiikey to 1.9g and used a brickblocker on SMG.. SMG won't work.. and btw, is your SMG a JAP original or a backup?

no it was the us smg but had changed the region using wiifriito to test both us and j also the update did about 40% and then the wii rebooted

Oh.. if you changed the region of the game using wiifree.. that won't have any effect.. the purpose of wiifree is to change the region to make it more compatible to the region of your Wii.. it will not change the contents of the update. So the update in that game was still just the same as the US smg backup.. (i think it got stuck at 40% because of that..)
Btw, updating from a game that has the same region as your wii will not brick your console.. an ORIGINAL JAP smg updating a JAP wii won't brick it.. so don't worry..
We need the actual JAP update from the ACTUAL JAP smg version.. :) because that version will contain a 3.1J firmware that will hopefully be powerful enough to undo our semi-bricked Wiis.. ;) Im one of thse people who needs that update..:(

no idea. So would i have semi bricked my wii if i tried the update? Also would the jap smg update apear and fix this? or would i need to wait for another jap release?
hope that all makes sense :)
