These are standalone DS development devices which do not need a cart to function, instead they can be used with an SD or MMC card. MK3 is very similar to MK2 but it just has more memory for applications like media players and so on. Moreover, the <b>MK2 is free for NDS developers!</b>.

Do you still need to flash another bios on your ds? And can these play 512 mbit games...cos supercard can't!

Oh, I overread that it says "release". :) So what exactly is this? Is this a new passme? What is the SD-slot good for, when you still need a GBA-flashcart?

And where can I buy one? 39,90 + a SD sounds like a fair deal.

[edit]
Hmm. What exactly does "Boot from ANY Flash cart." mean? GBA-flashcart or SD?

"it will be released on the 26th of August"

i'll take anything about DS flash equipment release dates with a ton of salt :P

So if you buy a Magic Key 2, does that mean you can run backups without a flash cart ? given it has SD/CF support ...

I would assume so. But they really didn't give that much operational detail did they? You don't even know if it's still only GST hacked roms, don't know about games over 256mbit, etc. Although 40$ for the MK2, I'm quite interested.

You can still not play .NDS Roms they need to be patched so i wait for g6 there will come soon..

Well even GBA roms needed to be patched in many instances. So if it's just something similar I wouldn't care. I just care if you have to use hacked and encrypted roms by some pirate group. I'd rather have a program to patch clean dumps.

Sorry to be the newbie here, but I need some cliff notes. Can someone help me understand this? I've put down what I understand, or at least think I understand in bold. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance and regards.

1. Boot from ANY Flash cart = Boot off any GBA flash cart, this part I get.

2. Included 8Kb high-speed inner buffer can use command to read/write it. = ?

3. Included 2M SRAM for NDS game save (100% hardware save, support EEPROM and Serial Flash directly), and can compress the game save then backup to 16M menu flash later (SMS function). = Save your NDS saves to the internal SRAM in the NeoFlash, but I'm not clear on the SMS function.

4. Included 16M Flash for menu, can store the MK2 / MK3 boot menu program, and can backup / restore the NDS SMS file = ?

5. Support SD and MMC card directly, maximum memory size up to 16Gb ~ 32Gb. = Is meant to replace the GBA cart?

6. Included Li-Ion battery, lifetime over 5 years, can keep the game save data around 3~7 days, for temporary using only, must backup the save data to menu flash later for a long time safe backup. = Why would the data disappear after 3~7 days?

7. Battery voltage display can show NDS working voltage and MK2 / MK3 Li-Ion battery voltage. = I'm guessing this would be so you can know if the NeoFlash/DS isn't working properly.

8. Support software reset, it'll help to make the multi-files loader. = ?

9. Support memory bank swap, very easy to use offset to swap the memory bank. = ?

10. Support power saving mode, some hardware module can enter sleeping mode when it don't run, and can use command to call them wake up. = Goes to sleep, that's easy enough.

11*. Included 256M / 512M Flash, for run PD ROM and APP ROM through MK2/MK3 and not need SD/MMC support. = This has something to do with #5, but I'm not sure about that one.

12*. Included 64M / 128M Zip RAM, for decompress the data and run directly, also can use for a huge size high-speed working buffer, for example the Linux / EMU / PDA = So ROMs can be zipped?

That Divineo.com only has MagicKey 3 listed (90$) with "no stock". There's no MagicKey 2 though which is what I'd prefer to get. I wonder though if the Magic Key 2 only has 256M of memory, does that mean it won't play 512M roms? Or would it? I'd be disappointed if it wouldn't play Castlevania.
