I'm one of those people who bought an xbox and went into xbox modding but know it seems the xbox is dead and i'm looking to get into the ps2 modding community.I've done a little research and it seems the swap magic and fliptop method would be for me my question is will the swap magic disk work with brand new ps2's and does the fliptop thing require having to take off your ps2 opening lid?

There are loads of threads about this.
Swap Magic w/ swap tools all you need, when you say new PS2 I assume you mean the PStwo (slimline).
You don't need one of those special lids, IMO they are a con.

Yes i mean a brand new ps2 slim, can you explain to me the tools, does that require any taking apart of the pstwo?

The swap tools have 3 parts to them:
One for the bottom right hole when you lift up the lid.
One for the disc brake just to the right of the centre at the top
One for the lid sensor under the top left hinge.

You don't need to open the console to fit them, they are designed to be fitted that way.

The hardest one it fit is the one for the lid sensor, its a small thin piece of metal and can be a ***** to fit. There are instructions online for the variants of the swap tools that exist.
