Kid punches Mom in face over Halo 3 [Archive]

A young child has been accused of punching his mother in the face as she forced him to cut his game short on Sunday night and then fought with the police as they tried to restrain him. The parents told deputies that their son was playing Halo 3 late at night and they said he needed to turn it off, but the child refused to switch off the machine so his parents took action and the child went nuts and gave his mother a good thump.

Indian River County Sheriff’s Deputy Sean Harnage reported responding to the family’s home at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday in reference to an “out-of-control child.”

The parents told deputies their son was playing Halo 3, and it was getting late and he needed to shut it off. When the son refused to turn off the game, the parents reportedly took the air card out of his machine so he couldn’t play anymore.

Reports show the son became enraged, went through the house looking for the air card, and then punched his mother, prompting the parents to call the Sheriff’s Office.

After the boy retreated to his bedroom and locked it, the mother knocked on the door and told him he needed to come out and talk to the deputies, the report stated. But the juvenile allegedly responded with profanity.

Personally, I don't give a sh!t. The child deserves to be punished. And if the parents had done their jobs right, this would never had happened. What makes this so special that it deserves to be on the news anyway? I bet you that this sort of stuff happens everyday, all the time but only the worst parents have to resort to calling the police.

The little bastard across the street from me is now in juvie after beating the crap out of his sister with this game controller. he had problems to start with but the parents couldnt controll him and had to call the cops. He is 10. :(

AIR cards= way to much money for internet vary vary slow internet. and why the hell would the dad not just step in and take the 360 and smash it. if it was me i would never be playing my 360 ever again. The only way to make kids stop is just take that **** away. Thats why my 4 year and 7 year old can only play the Wii. I play my games after everyone goes to bed on the 360. My kids think the 360 is for movies only :cool:

What they need to do is sell or give away the console and games. Tell their son, if he can't behave properly, then he loses the console as a consequence.

Doesn't matter if the dad or mum bought it for themselves as a family games system, they should get rid of it, to show him that they won't tolerate that kind of reaction EVER again.

well.. if you are beating your kids they will grow up to be some psychos, it's not the way to go, you need to put some things straight, beating your kid is the most simple solution to the problem, there are other better ways - believe me, you can punish them in other way, the mest method is to explain the situation and to convice them not to do anything stupid, talking makes miracles - rly, I would never hit my mom, she earned her respect, that's way, even though I'm 20 now I really get on with her

As a parent (and game player) I gotta say this is usual nonsense about 'the game did it'

certain kids can lash out whether they're being told to put of their light, turn off a game or stop playing with their toys - as usual the story doesn't examine whether the kid had these problems to start with

if the kid doesn't have any kind of ADS or whatever then this is poor parenting, pure and simple. One, its the parents (i.e.) my job to control what they're kids play, how long they play, etc.

You know, forty years ago a similar kid might have struck out when told to stop playing monopoly before the game was finished... what annoys me is the attempt to attach the behaviour to the game. At most it may have got the kid overexcited and worked up increasing the odds of such an incident - but hey, that's why you control how much time your kids have on consoles and what they can play and when - i.e. no action games right before bedtime.

Of course, you've also gotta limit their console time so you can get some too...

My question is how old is the child and what the hell is he playing games not suitable for him and why do his parents not recognise that he is getting frustrated by games and try doing something about it like getting him into sport to vent frustration.

Well guess what, barricade the door, and don't feed him until he complies. Also, for punching his mom, he needs to be humiliated, make him wear a full body sign that says "I <3 c0ck." Stand the lil sh1t on a corner in front of his school for 8 hours, so all his friends can see, then ebay off his gaming stuff.
