View Full Version : EA signs Lewis Hamilton for £5 million
EA Sports have signed F1 star Lewis Hamilton in a £5 million deal that will see the British star front a F1 game. Sony has held the official license exclusively for F1 since the 2003 season, however rumours have suggested that rights holders have been looking to pass the license on to a major third party publisher in order bring the sport to other formats, maximising its exposure.

This news actually came out last Thursday/Friday and I heard it on the radio (Talksport UK) where they had a gaming 'expert' say that his sources from E.A claim that this is totally false and that Sony have the full F1 license for a few years yet and will carry on with it due to the success of the PS3 F1 game this year

I *USED* to have a lot of respect for Lewis Hamilton, sure he has had Ron Dennis`s silver spoon in his mouth for 9 years but it does take a lot of talent to do what he does. But after hearing he was leaving Britain for Switzerland because he was fed up of his face being everywhere and nobody leaving him alone the last thing I would have expected him to have done is sold the rights to his face so its plastered everywhere even more. Oh hang on, stupid me, the British public arnt paying £5 million for the privilage. Still once he loses the support of the public his image wont be worth jack ****, so make the most of it Lewis

I think your missing my point, us gamers pay EA alot of cash for there games which most of the time are overrated and poor then they go give it to someone who drives an oversized go cart, as if he didnt get paid enuff as it was. Its just wrong.

The truth is he is leaving as f1 is not recognized in switzerland as a sport due to being banned after horrific crashes many years ago so any f1 driver that lives in switzerland (nearly all of them do) are classed as unemployed so don't pay tax on earnings.
Though with the U.k. press the way it is they have built him up so leave before they start ripping him apart for no reason.

LOL at the picture. The pouty lips say I want a man inside me, but the crossed arms and bedroom eyes say I want a thug inside me.

Actually anyone who knows about F1 and this sort of stuff will know that, he moved there to avoid Tax fees. Why do you think Jenson Button moved to Monaco? Do you have a vendetta against him to?
Not trying to stick up for Lewis or anything as i hate McLaren and was so happy when Kimi won, but you shouldn't believe everything you read in the papers, and he was probably quoted as saying that, but the press like to spin it for sales and probably hatred...
In terms of EA getting the licence...i'm in 2 minds, one thing that got me angry was how Sony released the game just before the new seasons so your playing with old team designs and old driver line-ups...they should release them mid-season or something
If it was like F1 2003 Challenge (i think thats what it was) it would be an ok game.
