About a couple of months back we had a lot of news around VAST as Magic Gate memory card Mod CHip for PS2's.
And then post that a group of Hackers informed us that they were going to hack and offer it to us free.

Any one has any more news update on it ?

freevast was simply some guy trying to say he was going to rip off vast but memento is free anyway.

yeah but i heard you have to patch the iso you burn in order for them to work on memor32. better off sticking to the hdd.

this is what im talking about.
I downloaded the file and took a look at the read me. There is a file included to patch ISO's before they will work with this hack. So it appears this does not work with standard copies. I would be interested in hearing reports of how this works after people start getting the memory cards.

I don't 'know' as such. Don't get me wrong, such a product would have been cool, all I'm saying is that it felt like a fake to me from the beginning.

Hmm, Memor32 + Memento does seem like the best path now.

The difference between memento and freevast is that memento works only with memor32 (usb hacked ps2 memory card), freevast wants to crack the memento to run it on original memory cards.
I hope freevast will do it, I have hdd but I can't play ALL games (everybody's golf and tennis are an example; budokai tenckaichi 3 has a "fusion disc" option that I can use only if I have the original discs or a chip...)

i also would like to see this working on a REGULAR memory card as well..
why wouldn't the steps bellow work?
1. once we find out what they use on their memor 32 cards, we can copy the files they use to a JUMP DRIVE via a PC...
2. then we use a SWAP MAGIC CD to boot up an ACTION MAX REPLAY disc and then you copy the files from the JUMP DRIVE to your REGULAR PS2 MEMORY CARD...
wouldn't the above work??? TIA for the input guys and girls.

The problem is that memor32 builders knows the id of their magic gate, only with this id the program boots.
The goal of freevast is obtaining this id from every memory card, then first I think they will release a ps2 tool for detecting this id, then they'll do a compiler for the cracked elf to put on our memory cards.
In the site of freevast there aren't emails or contacts, so we don'tknow if they are really working at this or not.
Does somebody knows they?
Chances are if they are working on it, they won't say anything until they accomplish something. Also it's best not to bother them about it, and just let them work. All you can do is wait and hope. Either way 50 Euros is way too fucking much for that 32mb card.

I picked one up and it has been the best purchase I've ever made for the PS2..just think about it for a minute:
For the cost of Guitar Hero, you have a device that allows you to play backups on any currently existing PS2 console you'll ever encounter.
Memor32 card? $75 U.S. currency.
Being able to leave your PS2 home and take just burned games and memor32 over to a party or friend's house for gaming night? Priceless.
You could just about as easily bring your PS2 or just the memcard and HDD and ps1 disc to do the same thing. 75$ is still awfully steep. If it booted existing/unpatched burns directly then it might be justified.

Z80 I dont mean to pick on you but Im tired of seeing this comment
If you already shelled the cash for the HD and/or modd chip and went thru all the effort to take advange of other expliots then the memur 32 probally wouldnt be your choice.
On the other hand, if your looking for a way to play your back-ups and have never bought a HD, modd chip, or configured your PS2 to bypass security, this isnt really not that bad of a deal.
Thats just my 2 cents
