I wanna get this to play copied/downloaded games.

Does it work with lots of games? Atleast Grand Theft Auto, especially San Andreas.

Anyways, it says

USBeXtreme allows you to convert your PS2 games to USB harddisk
It says "convert" what format does it use? ISO? Does it have its own format? How do I copy the games? I have a burned copy of a game and the original is damaged so can I put that on the Drive, I am thinking if I run outta space on the USB Hard drive then I can just burn the game and when I want it back copy it from the burned game.

Ultimately, is this a good product and should I get it?

it converts the games to the hdd so that they are set up to read through a usb 1.1 port. don't bother the compatibility list of games sucks and if the game does work the lag is annoying to deal with.

I already made the order, is it really that bad, I might be able to cancel.

What format are the games ISO?

Okay so thats two against, not even the new version?

So it doesnt work with lots of games?

I dont know how to solder and dont wanna modify the PS2. How easy is it to trick the PS2 into not knowing you opened the tray?

you have to install three little metal pieces on the inside of the cd tray that basically covers the sensors so that the ps2 still thinks the door is closed.

It that easy? No voided warranty?

Do you have a PS2 or a PStwo? You mentioned a tray so I gotta ask.
Cause if you have a PS2 you are better off with the BBA, an IDE HDD and HD Advance.

I actaully dont have, my brother has the fat PS2. I am gonna find a way to run copied/downloaded games and test on his, and upon finding the method best for me, I will get either his or find one some where else. I dunno about HD Advance, is it hard to put a hard drive in a PS2? Does internal hard drive have more compatibility than external?

Also what about 1:1 copies?

Yes, its much faster and has a far superior compatibility to the USB version.
Install is easy.

http://ps2drives.x-pec.com/?p=ps2_installation - use navigation at the top to find a suitable drive.

a program called winhiip can recognize the drive once its formated in PFS.

look on ebay for a network adapter, they are about $40. Then get an IDE hdd (not western digital) format it through windows first then use winhiip to format the drive in PFS(set in the options to 48bit if the hdd is larger than 127GB), install games, and to repair the drive if necessary. pop it back into your ps2 an run hd loader.

why? you can get stuff way cheaper online. anyway i don't know even where to begin looking for a network adapter off line since they don't make them any more.

why dony you get a prepaid card, you can pay online with them, and who cares about who you are once they are geting your money.
so you can be 10 and having one of these cards you can buy anywhere

No, I actually am getting it for him as he is less able to than I am...

And I prefer not to, I prefer to get as little as possible online.

Oh yeah, the tray on my brothers PS2 has a hard time opening so I dunno if I could use a disk swapper. He got a PS3 there is no way to mod that is there? I know Ubuntu (http://bestwikiever.wikidot.com/Ubuntu) can be put on it so I can run emulators (http://bestwikiever.wikidot.com/Emulator) and stuff and maybe a PS1 emulator or a VM to run windows to run a PS1 emulator, but no PS2 or PS3 commerical games...

If you want to do **** like this you need to be buying online, there are very few people that sell them offline (though you may find someone in the classified section of your paper or something, Chinatown sometimes has a shop that sells things like this as well).

I thought we all agreed the swap disc wasn't the best option for you. If you have a friend with a modded PS2 you can get them to put an exploit onto your memory card for loading things such as HDLoader.
With HDLoader everything else should be available offline as its just a standard HDD and PS2 Broadband Adaptor.

I would like playing burned games as DVD-Rs are cheaper than HDD and I dont use any space, but there are advantages and disadvanatges.

If there was a set with an HD Advance disk, HDD that worked and the network adapter (everything I need in one pack) and I actually could pay for it then I would do that. I am ordering off a site that takes Cash (for real!)
