In something of a surprise, Electronic Arts the publisher famed for downloadable content has announced that they are not to release DLC for Skate. An EA exectuve producer remarked that they are not planning any content for Skate 1 as they do not want to go and ask gamers to cough up more money for shoes and shirts and this is not how they wanted to enter the market. So it sounds as if all is in place for downloadable content in Skate 2 then...

Electronic Arts has become known for the amount of downloadable content they've tossed on Xbox Live, most infamously charging for what were essentially cheat codes in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2007. Thankfully, however, that won't be the approach for their Tony Hawk rival, Skate.

"[We're] not planning any new content for Skate 1 ... We didn't want to go back and ask [people] for more money to get more shoes and shirts," said EA Black Box Executive Producer Scott Blackwood in an Afterthoughts interview featured in latest issue of EGM. "That's not how we wanted to enter this market."

well then how about they release more than just shoes and shirts, how about some more areas? or some more skateparks? or even some new tricks?
gees, using complaints from previous games DLC to avoid making some for skate.

Isn't Skate and NFS made by the same Developers? Both are Black box games, talk about an identity crisis, 'we dont want people to pay for shoes an stuff, BUT it's ok to to charge them for virtual tyres?'

This might have sounded more sincere if we didn't find out the same team intend to charge for extras on their other game, just the other day.

I think this is for the best. It would be really tough to add a new area and make it not feel like it was just tacked on. The city is already insanely huge. Best for them to put all efforts into Skate 2.

of course they're not planning download content. all the extras they want you to buy are already on the disc, you technically you're not downloading anything.

How about some Free DLC you greedy bastards? It goes a long way, to offer a free patch that adds a little content.

LOL, if they ever expected people to pay for new Tshirts.

EA makes "products", not games. That's why they never support their games...
