The boss of Team Ninja has suggested that ratings bodies are good for the gaming business and personally he does not feel censored by such boards. He also sympathizes with such boards and gives credit to the work undertaken by the likes of the ESRB and PEGI.

"The second point is, that being said, I don't believe the adage that the artist should be able to express whatever he wants is necessarily applicable in this case, because we're creating entertainment. And entertainment shouldn't include things that make people feel uncomfortable or extremely upset.

"The third point would be that people out there that want to create something that is very far removed from societal norms and the moral sensibilities of the general public ... They're unfortunate, and I don't want to be grouped in with that group of people."

if the videogame industry wants to be accepted into the mainstream then a ratings system is just another hurdle they have to clear.

as games get more realistic in terms of graphics, games like ninja gaiden (with its very bloody nature) wil be prime targets for censorship. we'll see how he feels when he is forced downtone the game to be less bloody then it's previous incarnations.

I agree with what you say, but sadly the american games industry is too inmature to accept such necessary things to become mainstream.

Yeah, we Americans are the only ones with problems in regards to ratings, because no other countries have had a problem with game content. /sarcasm
