Just picked up my first PSP (Jap 1.50) and I'm quite impressed with the console.

Been blasting around on Ridge Racer which looks very impressive and plays quite well (although I would much prefer to see Outrun2 on the PSP...) and I checked out a few emulators (pspuae-0.31, uo_Snes9x_002y30, scummvm-psp-beta4 and PSP Rick).

First impressions are that most of these emulators (with the exception of Rick and SCUMM) just a step above proof of concept - agree?

What emulators have you used that you can recommend as playable?

Impressive stuff irrespective, kudos to all who have inputted something of worth to the scene.

On an unreleated note, the Japanese packaging/manuals of my 2 games (Ridge Racers and Hot Shots Golf) remind me of the old Super Famicom days when I used to pay £50+ for games

One last thing - Does the PSP make anyone elses hands hurt? This thing is more uncomfortable than the first XBox controllers...

best emu's i've used are the snes9x tyl version and the neogeo cd emulator... both run very quick (from my experience) and are well done for such early versions...

and yeah... i notice the hands hurting thing too... lol... i think its designed for smaller jap-sized hands... lol (like how the xbox controller was too big for the jap market... i think the PSP is too small for everywhere else except JAP countries... i personally love the xbox controller...)

tempted to grab one of those addon things to give the PSP grips like the playstation controller.... maybe that'd make it more usable *shrugs*

I'll agree with that. Thats what I have running at the minute :)

Just grabbed the TYL version of Snes9x and I'm amazed.

Mystical Ninja runs very well at 333 Mhz (BTW - Any adverse effects of these overclocking features?) as does Zelda.

Any idea why this particular flavour of emu is not hosted in the downloads section? It's far more playable than any versions they have available there.

Great emulator, will be trying the NeoCD one later (NeoCDPSP.v0.5u4.zip from the main d/l page - correct? Or is it another "Google and ye shall find" mission?)

Boy oh boy do my hands hurt - May have to get one of those PS2 type controller things for the PSP, kind of defeats the point of the slick looking machine but hey its better than carpal tunnel syndrome...

the NeoCD 0.5u4 is the correct one i'm talking about

and no.. there is no problem with running at 333... the battery will run out quicker... but thats all...

Have you guys had any problems with games freezing in SNES9x tyl? I had mario allstars freeze when I went to warp to level 4 in super mario bros. and I think Lock On froze the psp when it was going into flying the jet. Everything else works fine and I too was worried about the 333mhz option because the other emulator said "use at your own risk". I thought the UMDs sometimes clock the thing at 333mhz if they need to?
