OXM November scores - Halo 3/Bioshock perfect 10's, Skate gets a 9

Here we have the review scores from the November issue of the Official Xbox Magazine. Halo 3 and BioShock both scored perfect 10's while Skate came close with a score of 9 NBA Live 08, NHL 08 and Beautiful Katamari all scored an 8.

The only game that I can think of that deserves a perfect score is Half-life. It set the stage for what a true FPS should be - shooting, storyline, etc I'm yet to play anything that has changed so much for a genre since the first half-life. Half-life 2 was just a graphic upgrade, still retaining the foundation of a great game from Half-Life 1. Any thoughts?

I agree except Halo 3 should be 9.0 adleast. It's a great game and people that don't enjoy because "the graphics aren't good" must've not played the game but isn't revolutionary so it's a 9.0.

halo 3 deserves a 7.5 from me and that just because of all the hype.theres 4 reason why this game failed for me.

1. it's over hyped
2. no AA or barely any
3. this was my first halo and it was a disappointment
4.it's boring.

i'd rather play bioshock 20 hours straight and have my 360 RROD than play this for 5 minutes.

So true, it seems that these "reviewers" are dishing out 10s as easily as it is for a crack whore spreads her legs. Honestly I hear so much about this being such a great franchise, but I just don't understand why. Ok so true I'm not a big fan of FPS, LOL at myself for the huge understatement, but to me great FPS were wolfstein, doom, half-life, Goldeneye and more recently metroid prime. Duke Nukem was really fun too :D, but I simply don't see what makes halo so good. I played the first one and thought it was a decent FPS, it actually kept me entertained for the better part of the first 2 missions which is no small feat for a FPS. I guess that to people that like this sorta game and are able to enjoy it it must be different, than it is for me.

Anyways all these 10s is just ridiculous; according to what they're saying if they said "what would you change about the game?" they're answer would be "nothing" they can't honestly expect me to believe that.

Your comment only proves that both of them getting 10's is absurd. IMO, I haven't played a perfect 10 game since Soul Calibur, which did get a 10.. (from gamespot at least...and some others)

Soul Calibur was a completely new franchise for me at the time, and the Dreamcast was a platform that I had shunned in favor of waiting for the mega-powerful Hypestation2 (ps2).. So, if anything, I was guilty of totally bashing Sega and their crappy support of their consoles and the inferiority of their offering compared to what was coming up on the horizon.

I was anti-Sega. YET Soul Calibur was a single title--that I had never heard of before--that MADE ME BUY A DREAMCAST. Now that is a perfect 10 game.

How did that transpire? I saw it playing in "attract mode" at a Gamestop store.. was enthralled.. Then rented a Dreamcast + the game at a local rental place.. I was not able to resist after that.

Bioshock comes nowhere near that. I can't speak for Halo3 since I haven't played it, but I doubt it would either. It might, though!

been running halo for about 2.5hrs and i gotsta say that to me its just Halo 1 again albeit a tad nicer looking, jaggies are a bit much in places though

Gameplay wise I agree, SS2 was a classic and remains great to this day. But man oh man Bioshock is so PRETTY!!
